I am sure the caterers will change the menu to suit these workers. Problem solved. And there is another solution. Someone may have to clean the worker's quarters. He should see the all the food that is dumped in the trash. He should bring this up with his superiors, who should notify the caterers, who should send out people to inquire and CONSULT with the workers to find out what is the food that will fit them. Given the authoritarian way these workers are treated, they are probably intimidated enough that they don't come forwards with complaints. They are poor Indians, not Americans. And if one of them brings up the fact that they cannot eat that food, there are people here who will bash them to death, like we see in some posts above. They provided free food, free water, free housing, free basic veterinary care to their horses who carried them around on their backs and pulled their carts, instead of being smarter and walk into a dealership to buy a decent car. So from the picture of the food offered to workers from the South Asia, they can't eat non spicy food. During our trip to Japan for one whole month, my Malay and Indian compatriots lost weight as Japanese food does not have that kick of Malay and Indian spices. Even the Japanese curry cannot suit their tongues. Malicious guest will always find fault to pick so as to put foreigners in bad light, even to the extent of inventing words like "malingering" and "deliberately get infected". She is not afraid of karma. You should buy them food. Before that, go survey each and everyone of the 300k workers to see what they like. Not just one meal okay, its 3 meals daily. You want to starve the foreign workers who do the heavy work for peanuts in your country, and ship them back. This is tremendously intelligent !! You ask me if I know who prepared the food for them. This is hard to know from 6,000 miles away. But it seems logical that someone prepared the food, since it does not grow from the trees already packed in plastic. So, is it a restaurant? I don't know. But it must be SURE that SOMEONE decided on what this food should be. And this someone is not the one who has to eat it. Sooo.... instead of an anonymous someone (who may even have some personal profit ) deciding on the food, why not let the ultimate consumer decide? Wouldn't this be better than "Go fuck off!"? But we understand. You have to follow the ideology of your leader Hitler, after falling in love with his book "Mein Kampf". Maybe we should bring in all those Michelin chefs from Bangladesh to consult them and serve them whatever food they want. In any case, what's the big deal of paying for all of their food using the Singaporeans tax money, Mr American? Letsrelaxpp
Take it as war time and yes, we are fighting a very tough battle here, so i would think personal preference is not valid. During war time, u either eat what u can find even if is not up to your taste or u face starvation, simple as that. I would think budget is the main concern here, afterall these companies are only after profits and welfare is the last thing on their mind, otherwise we will not even have this tragedy. Since you have so much sympathy for them, feel free to bring them to your own country and feed them with your own money No need for big chefs. THEY (the workers) can decide what nutritious food they want. It does not have to be expensive. Black beans and rice is one of the healthiest food you can eat, with plenty of protein, fiber, folate. And it is also one of the cheapest. America has enough trouble feeding the millions of people who lost their jobs in the pandemic. But the government has already approved more than TWO TRILLION DOLLARS to remedy the economic damage people and businesses are experiencing. Compared to this, what is the cost of food for the workers. AND WiFi ?? What better way to preserve the mental health and give some minimum of comfort to the workers than give them a laptop if they don't have one and give them all access to the Internet? Your government and some of your population are busting by the seams from all the indecent amount of money they have! And you grumble over some millions and even a few billions ???? Guest Guest
Is t just me who suspects that the implementation of the mask wearing is the reason that is helping the situation more, instead of the "circuit breaker" implementation? Social distancing started as early as 20-something March; Mask wearing "no-discouragement" implementation started in early part of Apr, maybe 3 or 4 Apr; Circuit breaker implementation started on 7 April. After implementation of social distancing, it didn't work. Mask wearing and circuit breaker implementation in Singapore came about on very similar days, but if you look at countries like "Taiwan — like Hong Kong and South Korea — has been able to avoid lockdown measures and keep many schools, restaurants and offices open." from this article https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/14/834431383/taiwan-reports-no-new-coronavirus-cases-adding-to-success-in-fighting-pandemic, it is rather obvious that the mask wearing implementation triumphs over lockdowns in other successful countries. I think the circuit breaker has definitely helped somewhat, but the improvement to the situation is only very marginal as compared the wearing of mask. And you know what is going to happen next? The leaders will be focusing on the implementation of the "circuit breaker" measures as the "winner" of the situation, because if they admitted the wearing of the mask to be the cause of the decline of our local cases here, then they will be slapping themselves in their faces hard, especially It is pointless for us to guess if the lockdown will be relieved or not, because any improvement which can lead to a relieve of the lockdown is not determined by facts and numbers, but by a dictatorship who can move the goalpost in any directions that they need, just like how we remained to be DORSCON Orange even at this point of time. Guest Guest
My take is, measures should work in conjunction with each other rather than singling out one singular effective one and neglecting the effectiveness of the other.
