Anyway if the workers find that the foods are not suitable for their comsumption, they should bring this up and those in charge inform the caterers.

I am sure the caterers will change the menu to suit these workers.

Problem solved.

And there is another solution.  Someone may have to clean the worker's quarters.  He should see the all the food that is dumped in the trash.  He should bring this up with his superiors, who should notify the caterers, who should send out people to inquire and CONSULT with the workers to find out what is the food that will fit them.

Given the authoritarian way these workers are treated, they are probably intimidated enough that they don't come forwards with complaints.  They are poor Indians, not Americans.

And if one of them brings up the fact that they cannot eat that food,  there are people here who will bash them to death,  like we see in some posts above.

That's why i think our government is silly!

Provide them free food, food toiletries, free wifi, free calling cards, free care packs and pay them for free somemore. And there are 300,000 of them!

Should just be like Msia and ditch them off totally.

Sigh!..  Hundreds of years ago people were equally silly.  They provided free food, free water,  free housing, free basic veterinary care to their horses who carried them around on their backs and pulled their carts, instead of being smarter and walk into a dealership to buy a decent car.

In the video I posted regarding the interview of the China worker, he already said the curry flavoured food does not suit their taste bud.  So from the picture of the food offered to workers from the South Asia, they can't eat non spicy food.  During our trip to Japan for one whole month, my Malay and Indian compatriots lost weight as Japanese food does not have that kick of Malay and Indian spices.  Even the Japanese curry cannot suit their tongues.

Malicious guest will always find fault to pick so as to put foreigners in bad light, even to the extent of inventing words like "malingering" and "deliberately get infected".  She is not afraid of karma.

You should buy them food. Before that, go survey each and everyone of the 300k workers to see what they like.

Not just one meal okay, its 3 meals daily.

Oh!  You are such a charming individual!

You want to starve the foreign workers who do the heavy work for peanuts in your country, and ship them back.  This is tremendously intelligent !!

You ask me if I know who prepared the food for them.  This is hard to know from 6,000 miles away.  But it seems logical that someone prepared the food, since it does not grow from the trees already packed in plastic.  So, is it a restaurant?  I don't know.  But it must be SURE that SOMEONE decided on what this food should be.  And this someone is not the one who has to eat it.  Sooo....  instead of an anonymous someone (who may even have some personal profit ) deciding on the food,  why not let the ultimate consumer decide?  Wouldn't this be better than "Go fuck off!"?

But we understand.  You have to follow the ideology of your leader Hitler,  after falling in love with his book "Mein Kampf".

Maybe we should bring in all those Michelin chefs from Bangladesh to consult them and serve them whatever food they want. In any case, what's the big deal of paying for all of their food using the Singaporeans tax money, Mr American? Since you have so much sympathy for them, feel free to bring them to your own country and feed them with your own money

Take it as war time and yes,  we are fighting a very tough battle here,  so i would think personal preference is not valid. During war time, u either eat what u can find even if is not up to your taste or u face starvation, simple as that.

I would think budget is the main concern here,  afterall these companies are only after profits and welfare is the last thing on their mind, otherwise we will not even have this tragedy.

No need for big chefs.  THEY (the workers) can decide what nutritious food they want.  It does not have to be expensive.  Black beans and rice is one of the healthiest food you can eat, with plenty of protein, fiber, folate.  And it is also one of the cheapest.

America has enough trouble feeding the millions of people who lost their jobs in the pandemic.  But the government has already approved more than TWO TRILLION DOLLARS to remedy the economic damage people and businesses are experiencing.   Compared to this, what is the cost of food for the workers.  AND WiFi ?? What better way to preserve the mental health and give some minimum of comfort to the workers than give them a laptop if they don't have one and give them all access to the Internet?   Your government and some of your population are busting by the seams from all the indecent amount of money they have!   And you grumble over some millions and even a few billions ????

Get Indian or Bangla cook from a few of their workers.  They know what 3 meals should be.  Problem solved.

No YOU should cook for them. Go learn if you dunno how, since you sympathize with them and talk so much.

Agree it is war time but if it is within our means, why can't get a Bangla or Indian cook?  it is not as if we are in Ethiopia where people are forced to eat roots.  A little bit more effort will go a long way.

Why waste any more efforts on Ungrateful Bastards who can still complain about free food given to them. Starving them and sending them back to their own country might be the way to go before the rioting starts.

More services available online for voters, candidates ahead of next General Election

"After nomination day, voters will be able to access an electronic poll card, which can be used in place of the conventional poll card, via the SingPass app or the ELD voter services website.

Physical poll cards will still be mailed out to voters."

Is t just me who suspects that the implementation of the mask wearing is the reason that is helping the situation more, instead of the "circuit breaker" implementation?

Social distancing started as early as 20-something March; Mask wearing "no-discouragement" implementation started in early part of Apr, maybe 3 or 4 Apr; Circuit breaker implementation started on 7 April.

After implementation of social distancing, it didn't work. Mask wearing and circuit breaker implementation in Singapore came about on very similar days, but if you look at countries like "Taiwan — like Hong Kong and South Korea — has been able to avoid lockdown measures and keep many schools, restaurants and offices open." from this article https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/14/834431383/taiwan-reports-no-new-coronavirus-cases-adding-to-success-in-fighting-pandemic, it is rather obvious that the mask wearing implementation triumphs over lockdowns in other successful countries.

I think the circuit breaker has definitely helped somewhat,  but the improvement to the situation is only very marginal as compared the wearing of mask. And you know what is going to happen next? The leaders will be focusing on the implementation of the "circuit breaker" measures as the "winner" of the situation, because if they admitted the wearing of the mask to be the cause of the decline of our local cases here, then they will be slapping themselves in their faces hard, especially

It is pointless for us to guess if the lockdown will be relieved or not, because any improvement which can lead to a relieve of the lockdown is not determined by facts and numbers, but by a dictatorship who can move the goalpost in any directions that they need, just like how we remained to be DORSCON Orange even at this point of time.

My take is, measures should work in conjunction with each other rather than singling out one singular effective one and neglecting the effectiveness of the other. After all we don’t go to war with just a sword or just wearing armour.

Agree... you can always bring both a gun and a sword together to war, but which one will be more effective in keeping you alive?

As of 20 April 2020, 12pm, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 1,426 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore, the vast majority of whom are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories. 16 cases are Singaporeans/ Permanent Residents.

2.       We are still working through the details of the cases, and further updates will be shared via the MOH press release that will be issued tonight.

Now most of them are lock inside the dorm. High chance they will infect each other. Wait till all get infected, then the number will go down..wait patiently.

Like that we still have a loooooooong way to go.... cos in June 2019, we have given out 284,300 work permit to workers in the construction sector alone. (https://www.mom.gov.sg/documents-and-publications/foreign-workforce-numbers)  ...

You want to suggest releasing all those people in the dormitories into the community at the end of the month...?? Looking at the spike in numbers today, it is obvious that the problem still has not been contained in the dormitories yet. The extension of the quarantine by two weeks alone starting today was the bare minimum already. I think they should still be quarantined much longer than that.

Forget the Avengers, there's a new superhero team in town.

According to Gov.sg, the Virus Vanguard is Singapore's advance guard against Covid-19 in a parallel world.

Wah... 142 cases today... And it's getting weirder.. One of the cases was tested just before he died the next day...

"The ministry said investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of death of Case 1604, a 32-year-old male Indian national who was a long term pass holder.

He had been swabbed at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) for COVID-19 on Apr 7, and was advised to stay at home pending the test result, MOH said.

His chest X-ray indicated he did not have pneumonia.

"He passed away at his residence on Apr 8, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection after his demise. Investigations are ongoing to establish the cause of death," said MOH."

After the death of the Indian on the 8th April above, we actually had another case of death reported on the 15th April but MOH deemed it to be unrelated to the positive COVID-19 infection. Anyone has any info as to why he passed away? Another heart failure like the case of the Indian?

https://www.moh.gov.sg/news-highlights/details/41-more-cases-discharged-447-new-cases-of-covid-19-infection-confirmed

"9.          Case 3381, an 80 year-old male Malaysian national, has passed away on 14 April from causes not related to COVID-19 infection. Under MOH’s enhanced surveillance, he had been tested for COVID-19 after his demise, and his test result came back positive."

Extend until end May? Not likely unless suddenly new cases spread in community. I think even extend also 1 week or most 2 weeks. But i guess high chance no extend but current strict measure still in place, like compulsory wearing of mask.

This is the minimum of extending in most of the countries. Even you can see Malaysia already extended two times to 1.5 months. So Singapore sure must also extend for another 1-2 weeks at least.
