Is it true that more people has actually died in China due to this virus than reported in the statistic? Then we should be very very worry abt it.

I won't be surprised if that is really the case. They have 34,611 infected cases as of now, with 6101 cases in severe condition. Even the usual form of pneumonia has a 30% fatality rate in severe cases. With no cure in sight, how can there be only 711 deaths. I even wonder if their supposed "2,321" recovered cases are for real. The numbers do not make sense.

Were all those affected on the Princess Cruise counted under the Japan infection numbers? If that's the case, we will be having this dubious honour of being Number 2 on the list already.

Actually the rate of infection in Spore is extremely high, going by the land size and the population of people we have in the (single) city.

Do consider the scarcity of proper medical facilities to handle such a huge amount and length of recovery of this illness and especially in more rural areas. Here of course we should do better.

Masks are completely sold out at Guardian and Watson .

Staff says they are not sure when the stock will arrive again .

Staff will not know,  need to check with PM,  the wuhan expert team or perhaps individual MP and probably they can provide a list of shops where mask are still available.

Our density is problematic with this virus as is the general poor personal hygiene level with all the spitting and inconsiderate coughing, not to mention our atrocious toilet usage habits.

I think Japan send the cruise ship back to Taiwan.

Singapore is technically No 1 in the world of Corona Virus infection, if we take the number of confirmed cases over population size compared to other countries.   We should not be surprised because this island is extremely densely populated,  and with loose influx of immigrations policies we will always be prone to all kind of problems.

The govt has been lecturing Singaporeans for many years of wanting to curb population growth, and often defended foreigners for wanting to come here for whatever reasons.

They thought SARs infection was once in a life time event, thus hardly put a thought about the recurring of such deadly virus,  by increasing the heavy inflow of traffic and created less space for human to move around.  LHL statement this evening wasn't very consoling when he rallied Singaporeans to prepare for any possible worse outcome due to the difficulty of tracing contact.  This was a cop-out excuses to seek Singaporeans co-operation when our voices were ignored in the past.  As at today, their mind still think of how to bring back those foreigners and that if fatality rate goes up, there will not be enough hospital and thus priority will have to be given to children and elderly on hospital facilities.  This is hardly a good news even when he clamer for Singaporeans not to panic, while majority of foreigners here are grabbing up groceries and creating the panic themselves.  The line of population is now so blur, on one hand we criticised Singaporeans for the sake of economy and than on the other hand he praised Singaporean when the G's shit hits the fan.  Where does foreigners come into the picture?  It will soon be back to square after election,  Singaporeans are always wrong, and foreingers are the innocent one.  Singapore life and  livihood have been taken for a ride for too long already - whether it is pre or post corona virus - there is no consolation whichever way.

NCP is airborne, according to China's Health Department.

Google translated,

China's official health department confirmed on Saturday (February 😎 that the new coronavirus can be transmitted through the air. At a press conference held in Shanghai, health and epidemic prevention experts confirmed that in addition to direct transmission and contact transmission, the transmission route of New Coronary Pneumonia also includes "aerosol transmission". Aerosol is a colloidal dispersion system formed by solid or liquid small particles dispersed and suspended in a gaseous medium. In simple terms, aerosols are small liquid or solid particles that are stably dispersed and suspended in the air and cannot be seen by the naked eye. The so-called "aerosol transmission" means that the droplets are mixed in the air to form an "aerosol", which causes infection after inhalation.

Previously, on February 5, the National Health and Medical Commission's website published the "Diagnosis and Treatment of New Coronavirus Infected Pneumonia (Trial Version 5)". To be determined ". After an interval of 3 days, the aerosol transmission route was confirmed by the official Chinese health department. The difference between aerosol and droplet transmission is the distance of transmission. Both droplets and contact infections occur within close range, while aerosols travel long distances, increasing the risk of contactless infection.

Aerosol infection

The Chinese Lunar New Year's Lantern Festival, the health department warned that the virus is very spread among family members. The Shanghai Health Department announced on February 8 that only 8 days and a half days, 5 new cases were confirmed, of which 2 were from overseas and 3 were residents of Shanghai. The total number of confirmed cases was 286. Zeng Qun, deputy director of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, said at a press conference that the community is urged to pay attention to the prevention of cluster epidemics and to increase the awareness of family cluster epidemic prevention.

- We must cancel all social gatherings and discourage relatives and friends in key epidemic areas from postponing their plans to Shanghai;

- Normally open windows and more ventilation to maintain indoor air circulation;

- Do daily household disinfection:

- wipe key points such as door handles, tables, chairs, and toilet seat cushions with 75% ethanol or chlorine-containing disinfectant;

- Personal hygiene: Wash your hands with running water, soap or hand sanitizer before and after meals.

- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or elbow flexion when coughing or sneezing;

- Avoid air and contact transmission: Family members should avoid contact with body secretions of people with suspicious symptoms, and do not share personal daily necessities; during meals, chopsticks are divided into meals, eat fast, talk less, communicate with each other, avoid handshake and hugs, smile with hands etiquette.

Epidemic prevention experts also recommend that, as a precautionary measure, remember to put a toilet lid on the toilet before flushing it out of the suspected patient at home, which can greatly reduce the concentration of aerosols in the air. After the spread of the Wuhan epidemic led to the Chinese authorities ’decision to block the city on January 23 to prevent epidemics, traffic in Wuhan, Hubei and surrounding provinces was severely affected. Airlines from multiple countries have suspended flights to and from Wuhan. Wuhan, known as the "nine provinces' thoroughfare", is not only a transportation hub in China, but also a major industrial town in China. There are no statistics on the economic impact of the closure of Wuhan. As Shanghai, the economic center of eastern China, if the epidemic is out of control, the impact on China and the world economy will be immeasurable.

Have seen with my own eyes majority of people wiping groceries off the shelves were the local people who speak Singlish and local mandarin or hokkien. Why is it so hard to accept the fact without blaming others? After all I don't find it wrong as it shows that we care and we take initiatives in dealing with uncertainties. The queues have slowly ceased since last night.

Maybe there might be Singaporeans in the queue. But are you denying that there are no foreigners there too? If you want to ask "Why is it so hard to accept the fact without blaming others?", I can also ask you back the same question "Why is it so hard to accept the fact without blaming us?" Like what was mentioned in the post above, Singapore had gone through the bird flu and the SARS epidemic in the past without anyone starting the run to the stores to clear out the shelves. What is the difference between then and now? Ans: The difference is that we do not have 50% foreigners here in Singapore to start and/or be involved in such panic buying.

Seeing all those talks from the government asking "Singaporeans" to remain calm is really making me so pissed off. Do they think all those foreigners are very level-headed now, or do they know that they have no control over the foreigners over here in Singapore?? Go open your eyes big big, and see for yourself how the government is reacting now. It's just so easy for the leaders to keep pinning all the blame on us Singaporeans, simply because we are just so easy for them to bully into submission, and also easily coaxed with drumsticks when they need our votes.

When it is code ORANGE, people snapped up groceries and toilet paper from the supermarkets, I wonder what will happen if it is code RED? I read there is work from home orders ..... schools and production will be shut down?

Guest Code RED

Knowing jolly well how ineffective our MOM, NTUC and employer,  Tripartism was.  It is difficult to implement anything sensible to avoid the Corona Virus if we enter into Code "RED".  I doubt businesses, where in the past, have greatly dissadvantaged our labour force in favour of employers profit.  Thus, it is  deemed difficult to see how all these sudden change of mentality such as "work from home", "Shift work", "flexi work", "work from different locations",  "shorter work hour", "leave work early" ...etc,  will pen out successful.   With no disrespect to the victim, the frontline and those greatly affected by the virus,  I hope this epidemic will put our tripartism in a painful lesson mode, and make them realise the importance of putting old habbits down and start doing things right for the first time ever.

In time when health and safety has became paromount to Singaporeans and our love ones,  Government should stop talking about economy loss, trade loss,  retail sufferings, tourism affected,  our bussinessmen suffered...etc.   Who cares about those area when the main focus and priority is to keep the virus at bay, put up more quarantine bed and get the virus out of our island completely.

Anyone believes that India only has 3 infected?

“Consuming cow urine and cow dung will stop the effect of infectious coronavirus. A person who chants Om Namah Shivay and applies cow dung on body, will be saved. A special yagna ritual will soon be performed to kill coronavirus,”

Those 170 singaporeans in china especially wuhan should stay in wuhan!! Why are they so selfish and come to singapore for what? Who ask them to go china? Now got problem wan to come back? So selfish these people.

Also those people who rush buy things look like new citizens, prs or fts. Singaporeans do queue and rush to buy things. We order online. So please do not accuse singaporeans rush and buy things!

What makes you so sure? When WHO raised the Pandemic Level worldwide from 5 to 6 in 2009, they basically just claimed that they were not talking about the severity of the deaths but the widespread transmission. If they really raise it to DORSCON Red, they can use the same excuse so that people don't panic.

Should we only rely on MOH sites and CNA to get latest updates? Am I the only one who feels that we are left in the dark. And reports/informations are only release atvthe end of the day. Usually at night... Sometimes late nights.....

Between fake news, bareface real news and sanitized news, MOH would rather provide us with sanitized news, so they need time to sanitize it out for us. They treat us as babies and they think they are wise enough to make the decision as to what news is relevant to us and what is not. For example, has anyone managed to find out which company was the one holding the business meeting event at the Grand Hyatt yet? I have been searching for it high and low, but I cannot find any information on it at all.

They are Singaporean and there is no reason why they cannot return to their home in sg. They can be in Wuhan for work , for some other reason and so long they are quarantined. all will be safe. I would think you are selfish rather than them.

Champion case already lor .... even hospital didn't identify him to be infected... How did this happen?

"The worker reported onset of symptoms on Feb. 1, but was only admitted to the intensive care unit at Changi General Hospital (CGH) on Feb. 7.

Within this period, he visited a GP clinic on Feb. 3, CGH on Feb. 5, and Bedok Polyclinic on Feb. 7.

Subsequent test results on the afternoon of Feb. 8 confirmed the coronavirus infection, whereupon the patient was transferred to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

Prior to hospital admission, he had visited Mustafa Centre (145 Syed Alwi Road) and stayed at The Leo dormitory (25 Kaki Bukit Road)."

👍 crisis always brings out selfishness in some ppl, jus like those who hoard essentials from supermarkets n those who condemn medical workers who are saving lives.  It also brings out opportunistic ppl who try to make money out of it or use this chance to deride d govt.  If situations r managed like wat these selfish ppl n opportunists want, sg wil b in a worse state.  If can’t help or dun want to help in this fight against d virus, jus keep d mouths shut.  Dun spread d fear n negativity.

it is  possible as there can be no symptoms or just pass off like normal flu, only when doctor suspect and send them for further test,  then can discover...stay in dormitory?  So now they have to quarantine the whole dormitory.

Its a double edged sword. From every situation you can see who are true friends and who are true father fuckers who are greedy and selfish as fuck, who are the ones who will stay and work with you and who are the people who throw responsibilities.

From here you watch and observe how human behave. Good or ugly. Gain experience points and find true friends as well as working colleagues and lovers.
