Is not about powerful passport but our covid number is still very high...i m not sure if they have include HK and Macau under china,  it can also be political, Taiwan despite a "clean" country but are not included in most countries' first wave of opening. On the other hand,  not sure if we can trust china but the smell of RMB is too strong for most countries including SG to open up for them.

The pandemic provides an opportunity to reset the sector, which had become reliant on Chinese groups and backpackers, he said in an interview with Bloomberg News.

Just like what happen in Taiwan,  when there is this Japanese girl after months in Taiwan,  went back Japan and got tested positive, Taiwan side have to trace and conduct testing for over a hundred who have come into contact with her.

Thailand is starting to close one eye as they are preparing to open up to international travellers.

This isnt the first time. 23 out of 35 myanmar citizen deported back to myanmar from thailand also tested positive when tested at border. At least during that time, thai gov did release a press briefing that 19 of them were infected and cured already before being sent to myanmar. I was hoping to hear the same for this case but i guess im asking the wrong person lol.

Malaysia was notified by brunei gov in early march before when their citizen returned from malaysia and tested positive. This turned out to be the biggest cluster of covid outbreak for malaysia, as the brunei citizen attended the religious event and because of this, nationwide lockdown and mass testing of all attendee of that event were conducted.

You are being kind. I would have said that Thailand is closing both eyes to open up to international travelers.

I hope travelers do their research before traveling as Thailand has one of the lowest testing rates in Asia, as seen on this https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus-testing chart.

We are now seeing the folly of US states opening up too early and such will be the case with Thailand.

Unfortunately, many of the travelers will be reintroducing infection back to their own country, if border control is relaxed.

On the flip side though, I don''t know what the solution for countries like Thailand is. If it does not open up, businesses will fail and people will starve. The rich in Thailand are very rich plus it is home to the richest royal family in the world, perhaps these sources can start helping the starving?
