Thank you Moderator.  The fewer the threads, the better.

Although the Ang Moh from Bangkok who suggested this was wrong,  as usual.  The "gay not interested only in cocks" was not a thread about old age, but about PHILOSOPHY, and philosophy is for all ages.  But we older gays  take things more philosophically, ha ha.

In the latest AARP magazine I read an article:  "When the Doc says 'Diabetes".

We are close to a epidemic of diabetes type 2 in America.  This article is also on the web:

https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2021/tips-for-managing-diabetes.html

"7 Ways to Improve or Prevent Diabetes".    Included here are some motherhood recommendations of eating less and exercising more.  Also: 7. Let the meds come as needed.

WHAT??   Thank you, thank you meds, welcome,  please come into my body to help me with diabetes ????

In this long article, NOT A SINGLE WORD  about FASTING!

This world is full of ignorance and misinformation.  Fasting is probably the best, more effective way for an obese person with diabetes to lose weight and recover their sensitivity to insulin.  Fasting has been practiced since ancient times.  But would modern people, Americans, do it?   Oh no!  It must be DANGEROUS to let the body pass more than a few hours without nutrition.  It could stop and die, of course!  Like a traditional car that can run out of gasoline and stop dead.

LOL!  This must be as smart as the recommendation for a long drive:  stop at every gas station to keep your gas tank full so you won't run out.

Such ignorance!  People don't realize that when we run out of the food processed by our digestive system,  we have a VAST reserve of fat fuel.   And they don't know that if they... if they would just DARE to try some fasting,  they would find that there is nothing wrong with it,  it is tolerable, it works!

My fellow BW gays,  if you ever over the years run into problems of overweight and pre-diabetes,  don't let the good medical establishment bind you into a lifelong regime of insulin injections and drugs.

.

I think we shouldn't over-generalise the findings and to hedge because there are so much we know about the mechanisms of fasting. End of the day, much needs to be done to understand the underlying mechanisms and also the specific population of interest. Just because it works for you (n=1), or even in certain rodent studies, it doesn't mean it would be something that others should or would do. Applying blanket strategies to overcome a common problem shouldn't be the approach.

Benefits (if any) doesn't occur over a short period of time. Just because you are able to perform fasting, doesn't mean everyone would have that capacity. Furthermore, this is not the only solution to the problem, there are many, and its good that you highlighted one that works for you. But we need to be mindful that it is not the only route for others to take to be "successful".

I agree with your way of thinking.  And I will use it unchanged on the other side of the coin.

Just because fasting works for a rodent like me  (n=1) does not mean that it will work for all.  But if you look at the AARP article I quoted,  "7 ways to Improve or Prevent Diabetes",  just because fasting may not work for all but only for some, does not mean that it should be completely ignored.  THIS WAS MY POINT!  Not a single reference to fasting among their "7 ways",  it was not mentioned as an 8th way, or an 100th way if needed.

Of a person like you who believes in science and is expert in sports medicine,  one should expect that you base your opinions on good medical science, that is, the opinions of doctors and scientists involved in nutrition and metabolism.   I remember having discussions with you years ago about the use of calorie counting, the pros and cons, and they were rational.

In addition to the many videos I posted here on the subject,  have a look at this report, one of many who give the same information:  "Intermittent fasting help treat or even reverse type 2 diabetes? "

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/can-intermittent-fasting-help-treat-or-even-reverse-type-2-diabetes

The review authors conclude that intermittent fasting may reduce body fat and insulin resistance not only by limiting overall calorie intake but also through “metabolic reprogramming.”

This reprogramming involves a switch from using glucose as fuel to burning fatty acids and ketones from the breakdown of fat stores.

By reducing body fat, they write, intermittent fasting may also improve sensitivity to leptin and adiponectin, which in turn improves appetite control and reduces chronic inflammation.

However, they conclude that this kind of diet may not be for everyone, writing:

“While alternate day fasting and periodic fasting have demonstrated efficacy in improving metabolic risk factors, it may be difficult to convince patients to give up or severely restrict calories for an entire 24-[hour] period. In America, we often eat three meals per day in addition to frequent snacking.”

They also caution that there may be safety issues with intermittent dieting.

For example, they say that healthcare professionals should closely monitor individuals who take medications that increase insulin levels. This is to prevent episodes of hypoglycemia, or dangerously low blood sugar levels, during fasting.

This article lists correctly a big obstacle to fasting:  CONVINCE PEOPLE that fasting is not a big deal, that they can tolerate it and be successful.  In this way they have to renounce to a whole life of worrying about having their three+ meals a day!  This is not for everyone, ha ha.

And for the safety issues:  people with high insulin insensitivity and without metabolic flexibility don't do well switching over to fat when the glucose level falls after the end of digestion.  The glucose level falls too low for their needs in what is called 'hypoglycemia".  If this is detected fast, it is not a problem since it can be reversed quickly by ingesting sugary products, like drinking orange juice or other sugary drinks.  Today with inserted continuous sugar monitoring probes, this is easy detected.

There are clinics where doctors subject their patients with diabetes to long periods of fasting,  like days and weeks with water-only fasting.  They monitor their patients very carefully, and they report a high degree of success, where patients start giving up their medications one after the other until finally end up with... none!

Diabetes is such a horrible chronic disease that one should do everything possible to overcome it.  If I had the condition, I would not hesitate in getting in touch with a doctor who specializes in eliminating it (not just treating it forever as a 'chronic' disease),  starting with some intermittent fasting for some time to recover metabolic flexibility and then longer term fasting to recover high insulin sensitivity and start throwing the medications away!  ( responsibly of course,  not in the trash or toilet... )

Finally, some reason. I have repeatedly asked how this would work for younger Asians with busy jobs, who meet friends for lunch or in the evenings, have other interests like exercising - and @Steve5380 has never answered for the simple reason he cannot.

And how do you explain how a nine-year with diabetes - as in a video report 2 days ago on the BBC - overcomes his disease? I suppose he has to fast for 4 day as well, according to your 'specialist' advice. Mere quackery.

Why would being young with busy jobs, meeting friends, having other interests like exercising...  prevent the person from fasting?  Today, diabetes type 2 affects also the young,  especially if they are overweight.  Exercise is best done in a state of fast, with the stomach empty.  Intermittent fasting can be an ideal solution for young Asians who already face being pre-diabetic and want to return to good health for a long and happy life.

But an Ang Moh from Bangkok, who is older nearly senior and obese, who is a couch potato always ready to eat big and drink wine, the idea of fasting might be terrifying. He rather fights against such suggestion of fasting, and poops on any information that recommends it.

@Steve5380 has reached stage 3 of his standard method of replying when he is unable to provide proper answers - attack the poster even though he knows very little about him. The rubbish he spewed above is just so typical - and sadly so typically childish. You would think a near octogenarian would be beyond such childish idiocy. But expecting @Steve5380to stop behaving like a child is rather like expecting the next rain cloud to drop gold coins on us.

But let him continue with his quackery since nothing seems able to stop him. Out of interest, is there any young registered poster in his 20s, 30s or 40s - any at all - who believes this nonsense about fasting and is actually prepared to go to the lengths of eating nothing for four days at a time when he has a full-time job etc.?

Yes, the child in me laughs at you.  How could he not?

And the senior in me, the serious Grandpa,  smiles at me the child and moves his head affirmatively, saying:

"Child in me, you may be a little disrespectful of this middle-aged poor man, but I agree with you that he deserves it! "

"You are right that he is obese, he revealed it himself with his body-mass-index of 29 (!), and he does not exercise, like he wrote to me,  so he must be a couch potato,  and he drinks wine; alcoholism?  You intelligently conclude that he must be terrified of fasting, and therefore he fights this advice by trying to put it down, calling it "quackery".  Maybe I am putting it a little kinder than your "pooping on it", my child.  But you have the right to be childish, Stevie."

"C'mon, Stevie.  Let's forget about him and let's continue enjoying watching the Olympics.  Here, have some peanuts to snack on".  💗

Contrary to this mental disorder in some people, who think that they are different persons, different individuals at different times,  my essence is always the same.  Always the same distinguished serious Grandpa,  to the outside world, with always the same child Stevie in my heart at all times, linked by a long life together, ha ha.  Two persons in one?  This is nothing new.  Think of the Holy Trinity,  three in one.  I may have the fortune of being two-in-one,  but not a "holy" duality.

As for personality,  all humans we have multiple personalities, you included.  A good personality, a bad personality, and various shades in between.  And circumstances decide which personality shows to the outside world.

On December 30 2021 I posted a video "Dementia is preventable through lifestyle. Start now".

Soon enough, an Ang Moh TENOR found his way into this thread and started to unload his criticisms on everything I posted, including the idea that Alzheimer's can be prevented.  Another Ang Moh TENOR joined forces too.  Their main argument is that anything that is not endorsed by the medical establishment and merits their personal approval is "quackery".

On YouTube there appears to be dozens of videos by all sorts of "experts" proposing preventions of Alzheimer's.  Granted that there are plenty of unsubstantiated claims in YouTube,  there are also some good experts, doctors and scientists, who voice their ideas on how to reduce the probability to contract Alzheimer's and dementia in general.

And how about our rigorous approaches by our sacred omniscient established centers of medicine?   The solution seems to be drugs, drugs and more drugs,  but not many words about nutrition and lifestyle in general.

I came back to this topic after reading a recent notice by the FDA (Federal Drug Administration):

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/08/health/aduhelm-alzheimers-fda.html

Here they make a REVERSAL to their recommendation for the expensive new drug Aduhelm.

Under fire for approving a questionable drug for all Alzheimer’s patients, the Food and Drug Administration on Thursday greatly narrowed its previous recommendation and is now suggesting that only those with mild memory or thinking problems should receive it.

The reversal, highly unusual for a drug that has been available for only a few weeks, is likely to reduce the approximate number of Americans who are eligible for the treatment to 1.5 million from six million.

The approval of Aduhelm early last month was one of the most contentious F.D.A. decisions in years. Groups that represent Alzheimer’s patients had intensely lobbied the agency to sign off on the first new drug to treat the disease in 18 years — and the first ever designed to attack its biological underpinnings.

But many scientists, as well as the F.D.A.’s independent advisory committee, said there was not convincing evidence that the drug worked.

In addition, the agency’s recommendation that Aduhelm be available to all Alzheimer’s patients, not just those showing early symptoms, stirred up even more concern among medical experts, including those who had supported the drug’s approval.

After the approval, three members of the advisory committee resigned in protest. One, Dr. Aaron Kesselheim, described it as “the worst approval decision” that he could remember.

The drug’s maker, Biogen, said last month that it would charge $56,000 annually for the drug. Associated costs — such as for diagnostics and safety monitoring, since the drug’s side effects include brain swelling and bleeding — could add tens of thousands of dollars to each patient’s annual bill.

Analysts expected that the drug’s widespread use would strain Medicare’s budget. By one estimate, it could leave taxpayers on the hook for $29 billion in new spending, more than the annual budget of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

For this controversial drug, which has not shown conclusive evidence that it works, the manufacturer charges US$ 56,000 yearly!!!  A family with kids can live off this money, instead of being spent on a bunch of pills of questionable efficacy and possible damaging side effects!  And maybe it costs $100 to make these pills?  There is something very, very, very wrong with the American pharmaceutical industry.

And these pills should cost the state, Medicare, US$ 29 BILLION dollars???  More than the cost of NASA?   Just to EVENTUALLY make the Alzheimer's sufferers a little better?  NO WORD OF A CURE.

Well...  ...  quite a medical advance to recommend that ONLY those with mild memory or thinking problems should receive it.   HOW ABOUT all the millions who suffer from mild memory or thinking problems after ONE GLASS OF BOOZE TOO MANY?

Why doesn't the FDA recommend to "those with mild memory or thinking problems"  to make a change in lifestyle and nutrition?  Serious scientists affirm that correcting the person's metabolism, through fasting or whatever, can have a similar or better result than this infamous pill?

TO FAST IS COMPLETELY FREE.  ALTHOUGH THERE MIGHT BE ANTI-MATTER IN THE UNIVERSE,  THERE IS NO EXPENSIVE ANTI-FOOD TO BUY 😄

Maybe the FDA members should put away their pride, and watch some of the videos I mentioned earlier, like these ones:

Or must we conclude that you meant Fauci's appearance was an example of Alzheimer?

The point from InBangkok was that what the 2 videos on Alzheimer present are quackery. He never was talking of any youtube in general.

Surely, you also need to draw a line what youtube is from official government sources or media chains and what from some individual persons or in the worst some self declared Shamans such as eventually this Dhru Purohit. As to my research he is not even holding any medical degree.

We are in no position whether the doctors presented by this Purohit are reliable or some jerks, whether their "teachings" are based on serious research, how the status of research in the area is. etc etc.

On the first doctor I found this as one example of research on him:

The Problem With David Perlmutter, the Grain Brain Doctor

In recent months, the media has become increasingly impatient with high-profile health advocates who dispense unsubstantiated medical advice.

Yet despite this heightened concern about the accuracy of health information, best-selling celebrity neurologist Dr. David Perlmutter seems to have escaped much scrutiny, even though he has a decades-long history of offering — and profiting from — suspect medical advice.

Despite Perlmutter’s popularity, most mainstream medical authorities do not endorse the advice he dispenses. In Grain Brain, Perlmutter revealed “the surprising truth”: Gluten is a “silent germ,” and declining brain health can be blamed in large part on gluten-containing grains. Brain Maker, for its part, promises to help readers harness “the power of gut microbes to heal and protect your brain — for life” — it even purports to offer groundbreaking preventative measures and treatments for allergies, autism, Alzheimer’s, ALS, dementia, Parkinson’s, and cancer.

Perlmutter has always been unorthodox in his approach to medicine. For well over a decade, and long before he was a household name, he has claimed to offer his readers “miraculous” — his word — treatments capable of preventing or reversing all sorts of devastating medical problems. He has also claimed that supplements and “detoxification” regimens — available for purchase on his various websites — are crucial to optimizing brain health.

Since Perlmutter presents himself as a distinguished medical expert, a natural place to start is with his credentials. “[Dr. Perlmutter] contributed extensively to the world medical literature,” reads his website, “with publications appearing in The Journal of Neurosurgery, The Southern Medical Journal, Journal of Applied Nutrition, and Archives of Neurology.” Earlier bios also list the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Yet a closer look at his publications reveals that Perlmutter hasn’t actually conducted much research. In the scientific community, full-length peer-reviewed articles, especially widely cited ones, are the gold-standard of significant research. But his contribution to JAMA — an extremely prestigious medical journal — is actually just a letter to the editor. The Southern Medical Journal? A case report and a clinical brief, both co-authored with his father when the younger Perlmutter was still a medical student. Archives of Neurology? Another case report. (Case reports and clinical briefs are short discussions around 1-4 pages long.)

As for the prestigious-sounding Journal of Applied Nutrition, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a legitimate nutrition scientist who’s even heard of it — and quackwatch.com cites it as a “fundamentally flawed” publication that has carried ads for “questionable potions, services, books, and/or publications.” (As far as I can tell, Perlmutter’s article in it is unavailable on any reputable scholarly database.)

But for medical researchers, claims of dramatic improvements as a result of unproven treatments generally raise red flags. A 2014 commentary on Grain Brain, published in the American Journal of Cardiology, puts it bluntly: “The declaration that a single, simple ‘cure’ can successfully treat numerous diverse diseases and symptoms is reminiscent of the oratory of the ‘snake oil’ merchants of generations ago.

These case studies raise an obvious question: If glutathione injection is such a miracle procedure, why hasn’t the protocol been more widely adopted? Perlmutter’s answer points to the profit-driven influence of Big Pharma: “Glutathione … cannot be owned exclusively by any particular pharmaceutical company and therefore won’t find its way to the highly influential advertising sections of the medical journals.”

Sure, maybe. Or it could be that doctors don’t prescribe intravenous glutathione for Parkinson’s because it doesn’t work.

To me Perlmutter seems to be the best example of a modern day Western "shaman".

The worst is if they even exploit others and suck out their monies from their "shaman" advice...

Better research on the authors of such "medical" experts would be advised.

And you know what, Steve, as you pull me always together with some other ang moh...

At least I bring in to BW the neutral background research and don't just leave it with "naming" the issues of your advice, before I post any disclaimers or blinking warning lights.

Read the articles on Perlmutter and you will find out that nobody takes him very serious and plenty of doctors raise the red flags on his "advice".

Dear Singalion, can you read correctly, or are you also in some cuckoo land?

I made stand out in the quotation of InBangkok's post, where you say he meant the 2 videos on Alzheimer's,  so that you see that he didn't gave any qualification to the "youtube videos",  meaning that for him,  ALL YouTube videos are quackery.

If you read the post above from Guest Guest,  you will realize that prestigious doctors like Dr. Fauci are also called "quacks".    So it is not only the videos that are distrusted,  ALL medical information no matter from where IS DISTRUSTED.  And with some good reason.

If we look at the history of medicine,  we realize that what was officially believed as true at some time, was in reality FALSE years later.  So... what to do?

The solution might be to have common sense.  If you have any, you should use it, and not get transformed into a cynic like InBangkok who distrusts everything and everyone.

I have read about Dr. Perlmutter since decades ago,  and I would not blindly trust what he says.  However, in the video I posted he gives the same advice other doctors and experts which I trust more also give.  So this is why this video was posted.

And it is not only evidence from YouTube.  My most trusted evidence is the one I experience myself.  I have now positive confirmation of the benefits of fasting, since I do it myself.   And I was so surprised the other days when my son,  a physician with over 10 years of practice, revealed to me that he also does intermittent fasting.  And he agrees with the new theories that give so much importance to our metabolism and the crucial role of insulin in it.  Smart kid!!!  (he is still a kid in my heart).

Poor guy... you keep suffering from your "quackery" allergens that fill hour mostly empty brain.  Now is added a Delirium of Greatness,  an Ang Moh from Bangkok who expects BW members who come to him and reveal their success with fasting.

He does not realize that FASTING is not only "a 4 or 5 day water diet".   Fasting starts with eating less often, leaving time intervals of more than 10  hours between meals, so the metabolism can change from glucose to fat.  This is what "intermittent fasting" means.   If one eats only twice a day,  then this automatically leads to intermittent fasting, since there are 24 hours a day,  and we cannot split 24 hours in two without having at least 12 hours intervals.

What an idiocy to expect BW members who wisely change to two meals a day to come running to him to declare with excitement "Hey... I am FASTING now".    Surely many smart gays do this already,  even before this thread started.

The fact will be that water will naturally come out of every pore when Steve floats on the Ganges because his body is made up of 90% water. Maybe for Steve it's 92% after his intermittent water diets.

Finally some factual points presented by InBangkok compared to the experts presented in Steve's youtube vids...

If the water flowing from the pores of Steve will mix with with the Ganges river or what chemical reaction will result, will be another scientific question of scientific interest.

Finally some factual points presented by InBangkok compared to the experts presented in Steve's youtube vids...

If the water flowing from the pores of Steve will mix with with the Ganges river or what chemical reaction will result, will be another scientific question of scientific interest.

Maybe you are made up of 90% water,  although you would not be alive then.

My body, like any normal adult male human body, is made up of about 60% water.   It comes in through the mouth, and most of it comes out as piss.   Maybe you wrote your post because I have pissed you off?   I'm sorry,  I have to pee every day.

I have no intentions to float in the Ganges.  If I want to float on a river, it would be naturally the Rio de la Plata,  the river that separates Argentina from Uruguay and is the most important body of water for Buenos Aires, my native city.   But why should I float in this river?  Its waters are not crystalline but somewhat dirty, I prefer to float in well maintained swimming pools.

An experience with fasting is correct, since the science behind it seems to be correct, widely substantiated.

But an autopsy of what you wrote about videos on YouTube can only reveal an intoxication with selfish misjudgments of the authors of the videos being sub humans that are committed to destroy the human race with misinformation.

Much of such cynicism can be based on fear plus ignorance.  Perhaps you are afraid that so many experts know so much more than you?   This fear is not necessary.  If you have an objective view of life, you will realize that all we humans are predominantly ignorant,  and only some information comes into our consciousness.  So don't envy their knowledge.  Instead, watch the videos and try to absorb that knowledge.  :)

I simply made up that you Steve were made up by 90% water... sorry for not facturing in the 15% virgin olive oil floating your stomach and digestive tracts..

Why would you piss me off?

Not one other reader has responded that they have even bothered to try your stupid water diet. So why do you keep po promoting this idiotic quackery? It is an utterly useless exercise for any working man

I am not so cheap to consume 15% virgin olive oil.

The oil I buy is 100% extra-virgin olive oil,  "first press",  made from the best olives in Spain.  :thumb:

You must know so little about fasting!  To assume that a person who fasts has something "floating in his stomach"

Instead, the stomach is completely empty, and the "water only" passes straight through the stomach into the gut, where it is absorbed in the small and large intestine.

Charlatans like Dr. Oz and Dr. "Grain Brain" Perlmutter are giving doctors a bad name

By Julia Belluz@juliaoftoronto Jun 24, 2015

There's a thorough evisceration of Dr. David Perlmutter, author of the New York Times best-selling book Grain Brain, over at the Science of Us today.

The American Medical Association just announced that it was taking a stand to defend the integrity of the medical profession by looking at creating ethical guidelines for physicians in the media, writing a report on how doctors may be disciplined for violating medical ethics through their press involvement, and releasing a public statement denouncing the dissemination of dubious medical info.

Consider the fact that modern medicine differentiated itself from the healing arts of the past by embracing science. It was science that helped raise doctors to the top of the professional ladder and pay scale.

In its earlier years, the profession was very organized around ostracizing snake-oil salesmen. At Skeptic magazine, Daniel Loxton points out that the American Medical Association, in 1911, first used its manifesto Nostrums and Quackery to denounce "forces of evil" like quackery. From the book:

Quackery does not die easily. Exposures of the frauds perpetrated by quacks and nostrum venders do good only to the extent that such exposés educate the public. When the veil of mystery is torn from the medical faker, the naked sordidness and inherent worthlessness that remains suffices to make quackery its own greatest condemnation. This is the mission on which "Nostrums and Quackery" goes forth.

The latest AMA move to rein in medical con men is either a demonstration that doctors are beginning to tackle this issue once again, or a sign that the problem has become so bad that the profession risks devolving 100 years.

Please BW readers do your own research before you easily follow some posted youtube quackery on BW.

You are ignoring most facts.  Add to this your compulsion to contradict,  and this perfectly explains your post.

You seem to have found an individual, Dr. Perlmutter, who has been and still is the target of many in the medical establishment.  And you promptly come up with his persona to criticize all the information I bring to the forum,  of which Dr. Perlmutter is only a small fraction.

I myself don't have a blind faith in what this doctor preaches,  and I have clarified this. I haven't read his book "Grain Brain" that you found so appropriate to demonize him with.  But in the video I posted, I heard him say many things I completely agree with him.   One humorous thing he said is that if doctors were to prescribe shoes, they would prescribe ONE size, the one that fits the average of people.    This fits so well the medical profession.  Doctors routinely prescribe the AVERAGE treatment that fits the average.  The fact that a large fraction of patients don't fit the average is... one of the side effects of keeping the treatment cheap and the time spent by doctors short!   No wonder that the medical establishment hates this guy !

There is no doubt that Perlmutter has a lot of ignorance,  and that as much ignorance exists in the medical profession, and that both have personal interests in what they do.  But is this a reason we should move and live in a dessert island?

The medical community is a closed-mind society that protects itself.  Such kind of society is nothing new.  There is a variant of the Hippocratic Oath:  "Do No Harm"...  to the medical profession! .   Anything that contradicts the established dictates of the medical profession will be ferociously attacked.    In the Middle Ages, science was in the hands of the Church,  and we all know how they reacted to the correct idea that the earth was not the center of the universe...

We know today how the FDA,  the sacred grail of medication integrity, made such a blunder with the proposed new drug Aduhelm to fight Alzheimer's.  This is a thousand times worse that a Perlmutter, because it involves dozens of top "scientists" and billions of dollars in profits.  Much, much worse than any unproven contradictions to their doctrines.  And in this case,  Perlmutter was right!

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/19/health/alzheimers-drug-aduhelm-fda.html

How an Unproven Alzheimer’s Drug Got Approved

Though some of its own senior officials said there was little evidence of benefit for patients, the F.D.A. nonetheless greenlighted Biogen’s Aduhelm, or aducanumab.

So please,  get down from your High Horse of pseudo righteousness that serves your compulsion to contradict in disguise,  and accept that in the field of health of the brain there is much lack of solid evidence, to the point that it is nearly impossible to determine with certainty on which side of the dividing line "quackery" exists.

NOTE:  @singalion and @InBangkok are not the only critics of what in their ignorance they consider "quackery".  There are millions of them.  The clearest example is what Western Medicine things of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).  Is it wrong to believe in the Qi,  the Ying and Yang?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!  Is Acupuncture "quackery"?  ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Chinese doctors cure millions of sick Chinese!  Wise Western and Eastern doctors see the good in both worlds, and accept each other's knowledge.  This is to be truly HOLISTIC!

I know personally one Chinese doctor who learned Chinese medicine in his country, and later got a medical degree in the US.  He is a doctor of internal medicine in one of the most prestigious hospitals in Houston.  He treated my late boyfriend at the time, and included acupuncture and a special light therapy in his treatment.

I just wonder how you prefer to defend yourself when the medical professionals on Perlmutter's grain theories are near to unanimously objected.

Your examples are far fletched arguments and FDA has nothing to do with Perlmutter, the same as TCM.

I have rarely seen so unanimous voices as in Perlmutter's case.

I will apply more scrutiny on your medical proposals here from now on.

Oh dear! Oh dear! Oh dear! Temper! Temper! Not only are your responses increasingly childish, they are clearly becoming nonsensical. To suggest that anyone has not done even "one hour" of exercise in their life has to be the rant of a complete idiot! Virtually every child does more than an hour of exercise in its first couple of months! Clearly you played no part in the upbringing of your son! LOL And as I wrote recently, I just have to pop downstairs in my condo to make use of the swimming pool and the gym which i do quite regularly. But then that does not fit into your narrative - the narrative of a loser!

I have explained before that while I spent a part of my career - a hugely enjoyable part - working in music, it was a small part. And to remind readers, I told @Steve5380 that in a PM. So he broke the rules of the PM by revealing this in the public forum. So readers, please never trust @Steve5380 with a PM because it will not remain private!

And yes I have travelled a very great deal in my life and career, something of which you were extremely envious about when I posted photos of some of the more exciting places I have visited around the world. I love travel as I am sure do most BW readers. I have been exceedingly fortunate to have travelled so much to so many exciting places as part of my work and vacations.

Lastly your ageing memory has clearly forgotten what I recently wrote - that I now spend a lot of my time writing. Early next month I fly to the UK for the launch of my latest book. I will also deliver the manuscript for the one I have just finished. And what interesting work do you do every day I wonder? Oh, I almost forgot! You watch youtube videos of quacks, play Schubert on your two pianos, sometimes take your akido lessons, visit the supermarket, clean house and make your home made meals. That's when you are not fasting for 4 or 5 days and drinking only water. All this, as you will recognise, is the truth - because your have told us so!  What a fascinating life!

So quit your stupid childish, fake comments. It merely demeans your already low reputation amongst other readers of BW!

Laughter is the Best Medicine

It’s fun to share a good laugh, but did you know it can actually improve your health? Learn how to harness the powerful benefits of laughter and humor.

The benefits of laughter

It’s true: laughter is strong medicine. It draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. Laughter strengthens your immune system, boosts mood, diminishes pain, and protects you from the damaging effects of stress. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hope, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert. It also helps you release anger and forgive sooner.

With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.

https://www.helpguide.org/articles/mental-health/laughter-is-the-best-medicine.htm

Laughter is good for your health

Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.

Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.

Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.

Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.

Laughter burns calories. Okay, so it’s no replacement for going to the gym, but one study found that laughing for 10 to 15 minutes a day can burn approximately 40 calories—which could be enough to lose three or four pounds over the course of a year.

Laughter lightens anger’s heavy load. Nothing diffuses anger and conflict faster than a shared laugh. Looking at the funny side can put problems into perspective and enable you to move on from confrontations without holding onto bitterness or resentment.

Laughter may even help you to live longer. A study in Norway found that people with a strong sense of humor outlived those who don’t laugh as much. The difference was particularly notable for those battling cancer.

The Benefits of Laughter and Humor
Physical health benefits
  • Boosts immunity
  • Lowers stress hormones
  • Decreases pain
  • Relaxes your muscles
  • Prevents heart disease
Mental health benefits
  • Adds joy and zest to life
  • Eases anxiety and tension
  • Relieves stress
  • Improves mood
  • Strengthens resilience
Social benefits
  • Strengthens relationships
  • Attracts others to us
  • Enhances teamwork
  • Helps defuse conflict
  • Promotes group bonding

Laughter helps you stay mentally healthy

Laughter makes you feel good. And this positive feeling remains with you even after the laughter subsides. Humor helps you keep a positive, optimistic outlook through difficult situations, disappointments, and loss.

I remember clearly you writing in the forum that your work had to do with orchestras and musicians.  I didn't get this from your PMs.  And the BW readers should know that it was YOU who posted a PM I sent you, after you had your big tantrum and threatened to leave this site forever, a PM where I apologized to you for having made you so angry.  When you posted my PM on the forum I remember thinking:  "Oh, how interesting,  InBangkok is showing the world that I DID apologize to him,  this should dissuade @singalion from claiming that I never apologized to you.   The two of you are such funny complicated characters,  it is a pleasure for me to realize that I have the patience to put up with you :)

He is talking about the fact that you leaked info from him namely:

And that is another questionable piece of medical advice. Water does not pass "straight through to the stomach into the gut". I would refer this so-called "expert" on things medical to the young Thai boys who were stuck in the cave in north Thailand some years ago without food or water for 9 days before they were discovered. They frequently - and understandably - complained about being hungry. Their coach advised them to drink lots of water flowing down from the stalactites as this would fill their stomach and ease their pangs of hunger! It worked! But then that does not fit in with medical expert @Steve5380's ideas.

Of really! How funny that statement is because your replies clearly show what a demented childish fool you really are. If you were amused - even vaguely - you would respond with something witty if not downright funny. All you do is trash other posters, dig yourselves into deeper holes, make up childish inventions about their lives, and generally behave like someone who has been deeply hurt by a whole host of accusations you just cannot deny! Try a couple of hours of Schubert at your pianos before you put your fingers on the computer and quit writing nonsense.

where in his complete post he is mentioning or confirming an apology by you ?

He is talking about the fact that you leaked info from him namely:

You (allegedly) leaked from a private message that he spent a part of his career in working in music.

Do you Steve have a different version of BW?

Is it an upgraded version where you can apply certain filters???

He never said anything about an apology.

It was yourself who repeatedly claimed you had apologised in a PM.

Whether it is true or not we are not privy to.

LOL!  Another ridiculous post  by you.  I know that it is the morning now at your place.  Otherwise I would think that being late at night your brain had stopped working when you wrote the above post.

How do you know A FACT that I leaked prom a private message of him,  unless you read the private PM conversations between him and me ??  Please recognize that YOU ARE WRITING NONSENSE.

And then, you yourself say that you cannot know if I privately apologized to him in a PM.   MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!

You don't know if I private apologized to him in a PM,  but you know EXACTLY that I did so in the thread about "Opera Queens",  which was where he went ballistic in a horrible tantrum  because...  because I assumed that he went to saunas since he had written about one of them.   So, go to this thread after his TANTRUM,  and read my apology.  You have no excuses,  so please don't lie.
