Swindonlad
I want to get back into shape and thought I would try getting of the treadmill and run for real outdoors. My condo complex has a ring road around it that would be good for a circuit, but I haven't run for years. Any tips on setting a pace or just starting running in general? bluwerks
Outdoors is perfect for anyone. If you are new to being active Begin by brisk walk Alternate from brisk walking for 3 mins and run for 30sec to 1 min for a total of 25 Mins Gradually over time and as you get comfortable shift to 3 mins run, 30 Sec - 1 min walking Begin to run more and walk less until you are able to run for full 30mins Swindonlad
Swindonlad
thank you, that's great advice, do you know of any good apps that can keep the time for me? the 3mins walk 30seconds run bit, save me having to keep looking at my watch. bluwerks
you can use any circuit training timer application - tabata or hiit apps that can create sets and repeat the cycles Swindonlad

ejszaka
I run regularly on Tuesday mornings, 7+am at Marina area (Marina Barrage, Gardens by the Bay, Helix Bridge, Flyer) and the path that leads to the Nicoll MRT station. Looking for anyone who's likeminded and also run in that vicinity to join me in this weekly endeavour. It's always good to have jogging buddy/buddies to pace each other. bluwerks and shyboi

xxpinexx
Hello, im currently overweight at 178cm and 91kg.. planning to start jogging or some exercise. Anyone has any tips or something for me to start off? Noomi Rapace
Zodiak
Hey Pine, that's a good news to know that you want to start! I can't give an extensive guide but here is some pointers for you to take note of : Main thing is for a starter : Do light jogs for longer duration first, make sure u sweat. Also do a mixture of some running if you're just doing pure jogging. Next u can use the fitness corner (if u dont suscribe for a gym or jz go to safra...) do workouts to build muscles, more muscles = helps to burn fat passively. (For what sort of workouts i'd leave it up to you; either get a training buddy or perhaps you can read up on some workout routines) Most impt factor : Watch your diet. Reduce your food intake. Start counting on what you eat on a daily basis. Try not to eat food with empty calories or rather low nutritional value foods (Such as...Mooncakes...) Beef up your protein intake and lower carbs intake. This is just a simple guide for you to kickstart. I'm sure others can give you a more extensive plan. Hope it helps. And All the best. MurphyL
Agreed, if you purely looking for weight loss- diet control will dictate your result by almost 70pct while 30pctg will be dictated by exercise. Right now intermitent diet or Kentosis diet is very in at the moment, you can Google it and check whether it is suitable for your living style. if you are heavy in weight, suggest you go on a diet plan and stick with it, and only compliment it with 30misn exercise for the first 3 months. once you get the Routine going and observed the weight drop that you can introduce heavy weight training to increase your muscle tone and shape of your body. good luck! Noomi Rapace
You may want to get a starter pack like good jogging shoes, hydration pouch, electrolytes, and etc. A good running shop will help you get the items. Get a heart beat monitor and GPS watch to analyse your jogs. If you know heart beat zones, you can go for medium intensity jogs. They will last longer. Can also study youtube videos on how others jog, like breathing methods, and etc. Have enough recovery before you go for the next one. Also ensure that you do not have any high cholesterol, cardiovascular or heart disease before you go jog. Have you done your health screening? Important to have the right nutrition. You may also need to take supplements to improve your health, fitness and etc. Drink lots of water every day. Seriously, you do not want to be dehydrated for the jog. All these require research.
