Towels are clean compared to the other saunas but the big problem is that the place is so stuffy - right from the wet areas to the areas upstairs. Smoking area despite a window being open was stuffy too. Did not stick around long as the crowd was thin and lack a good mix - mostly seniors. The only area with good ventilation was the locker and lounge area on the first floor. The steam room was small but sufficiently heated. Did not try the hot pool due to the stuffy environment but the water felt warm. Not a very big place but I suppose their regulars are happy. Certainly inhumane and insults the human dignity by today's standards, but those were the days when how it was done, to prevent having to house these dying persons in the living quarters for hygiene purposes. We've come a long way with regards to human rights and humanity, but the idea about gay rights is still quite stuck in that era for the general populace. Quite sad indeed.
