Power of Love - Gabrielle Aplin's version is very ethereal. Nice. But I much prefer FGTH's.Somehow, they have this rawness in the singing and the music arrangement that touch my inner being.I became part of the song, lifted to the sky and back to earth by Holly's mesmerizing vocals.Lol. steppenwolf
Originals vs. Covers (Part 11) So which version is original and which is a cover? First released in April 1986 as their third single from Erasure's debut album Wonderland,it became the third consecutive commercial failure for the band reaching #85. The song would become more successful, chart-wise,when British pop duo Dollar covered it and took it to #7 in Dec 1987. Erasure's remixed version of the song was re-released as a single to promote the greatest hits, finally became a UK Top 20 hit, peaking at #13 in Oct 2003. So which is better? IMO, both equally good in its own rights! I've not heard of this version before. Very James Bond.Venus...I still like Shocking Blue's rawness and Bananarama's wanton-ness. Everytime I hear Bananram's version, I'd think of Siobhan's raised hands and mindless dancing. Fun fun fun. More covers...The original - Peter Gabriel's Solsbury Hill and Erasure's version.
