Brit Pop Rules! (But Sucks Sometimes Too!)

Recommended Posts

It's Saturday,

THE SATURDAYS and ALL FIRED UP too!

You posted The Saturdays....how about The Sundays? Ever heard of them? They are an English band and they had a few UK chart hits too. Maybe you will find their music familiar. Especially the second one which was covered by Faye Wong before, so there is a Cantonese version of it. But I will spare you and not post the Canto version here :)

Only to lie like this between the bombs, dreaming away and not alone, because time was very short.

And all this while I thought it's sung by Tin Tin Out Feat. Shelly Nelson...

OMG! Never heard of this cover before! Who is Tin Tin Out? Who is Shelly Nelson? So do you like this version or the original?

I still prefer Tin Tin Out's version actually. :)

Tin Tin Out is a UK electronic dance music duo,

nothing much is known about Shelly Nelson,

though I thought she was Shara Nelson of Massive Attack fame all this while...

Speaking of Boy George. Who can forget this gem - Bow Down Mister.

The official video for this song is a truncated version. Here is the full version with Asha Bhosle in all her glory.

A sure club classic of the 90s. :)

The Medal Song is one of my Culture Club favourites too,

a neglected gem of the 80s I would say. Njoi!

I will focus on Britpop that SUCK!

The Cheeky Girls! Ths song will make u want to jam chopsticks into yr ear.

"Touch my bum...this is life". TOUCH MY BUM, THIS IS LIFE??!!! WTF?! Abd you thought Rebecca Black was bad.

Bombalurina, featuring Timmy Mallett. Ick.

I actually like both songs that you've shared! LOL

Here's Jedward, product of last year's UK X-factor,

the current forerunner of Brit-Pop-Sucks,

which I actually quite like them too! LOL

I suddently remember this ultra camp singer who used to be popular. Betty Boo.

Hey Pater Pater! We both have such similar tastes :) LOVE LOVE LOVE Betty Boo and Jesus Loves You! Even though both musical careers are short lived.

Hmmm, noone has mentioned Mika yet.

Here is him with Boyzone with a song he wrote that they performed. He sang S Gately's part.

Not really a big fan of Boyzone though....is that the group with the gay member that died? Committed suicide or something?

This is a very moving song indeed,

check out the video of the remaining 4 members...

Love Mika's first album, especially the track, Love Today,

his sophomore effort is not as catchy unfortunately.

Stephen Gately died suddenly at his apartment in Port d'Andratx, Majorca, early on 10 October 2009.

His death was later determined to have been caused by a pulmonary oedema resulting from an undiagnosed heart condition.

He was only 33.

Guest passerby

She's now a writer of pop songs,

scoring 8 UK number ones and winning five Ivor Novello Awards.

Here're her 2 finest I believe...

This talented lady also wrote no.1 songs for Britney, Katy Perry and the Sugababes

How can anyone forget about Leona Lewis, the most successful artist from The X Factor?

Collide is her first single from her third upcoming album.
