Haha, MV Sachika is mooooore expensive :) Yours looks fine, low season at US$ 1750 per week. Fly there with Tiger or Sri Lankan and you're set for about S$2500-3000 for a week all inclusive... ouch haha.

Doesn't say how much extra is the Jr Suite though :) why do you want a suite? You're almost never in it.

I love maldives! Went there in october 2012, and I went for the sachika liveaboard as ur link above. it was awesome =) the dive the ppl the ship.. hope to go back soon haha..

Let's haha

Here we go, some pictures of my recent trip to the Maldives. It was all the way down south, Gaafu Alifu Atol, Park Hyatt Hadahaa.

Most of the pics taken from snorkeling on the house reef, sharks and turtle included. The only scuba pics are the big shoal of fishes :) Pic #9

Nikon AW1. No need for a casing. Just go in the water, until 12m deep.

However.... the last day.... something bad happened. I think there was some sand in one of the seal and some water got in.... I only noticed while snorkelling and realised it was not turning on.... then saw with horror some humidity traces on the LCD screen.... well it didn't work anymore. The battery leaked and the camera refuses to power on. I might try to get  a new battery to try again but I think it's dead...   :-(

Haven't converted and colour corrected my GoPro videos yet.... takes forever to do.

resurrecting the thread for a bit...has anyone dived in Okinawa before?

I toyed with the idea of diving and surfing at okinawa about 2 years ago, did a little bit of research, but in the end due to other commitments i didn't go haha

I'm newbie here. I would like to learn scuba diving. Where is the best place to go for learning around mid of oct? And which website provides good and cheap diving package?

Thanks

Asian Dive Expo is happening this weekend at MBS, you can hop over to check it out! It's my first time there but understand that there will be diving classes and packages on sale by different dive schools, a bit like travel expo..

October is entering into monsoon season for some of the popular dive sites, but still plenty of options. :)

Most of the shops offer more or less the same prices for PADI courses, there are no miracles :) Some might offer you 5-10% off or even 20% their material if you take a course with them.

They have classes every week with trips every weekend for the open water certifications so don't worry. If it's not Tioman, it will be Riau so it's all year long.

I just returned from Palau, Micronesia and it was just amazing! Better than Maldives when it comes to waters and underwater life!

I'l post pics later, gotta pack for BKK haha

OK here we go!!! :)

Again, most amazing place so far. I mean, I haven't been to many dive sites yet lol, I've only been certified since May last year haha but from Riau, Tioman, Aur, Moalboal, Maldives, Cairns, and Palau.... well Palau takes the lead before Maldives!

Sorry if the pics are not in the right order though... didn't bother on that hosting site to re-order stuff around....

Photos taken with a Canon S120 in a diving case.

Should I get go pro silver? Hehe

Mhhhh I have the GoPro3 Black Edition and I love it, but it won't take amazing pictures.... unless you're lucky haha.

The battery pack won't last if you have the LCD screen attached, usually one battery will last you one dive... Even without the LCD screen, if you film a lot or shoot in HD, battery life will suffer and without the LCD screen, aiming at the subject might be a bit difficult.

For nice pictures, a simple good compact digital camera with an underwater casing is a much better option from my experience.

I'm using Canon g15 with housing, takes pretty decent pix once u get the white balance correct. Am also using using liquidimage, that one is built for underwater so the color has already been adjusted for the environment. :)

Oh I almost got the G15 as well but then I thought I needed a compact one :) Never heard of the LiquidImage one.... what I want also is some software with some pre-settings for underwater color correction :)

few things about taking good pics uw:

1 - get close...

2 - use the flash

anyways, is there a scuba diver get together?  Just hang out over coffee and chit chat scuba... :)

Yes, agreed, hence the need of a good buoyancy control technique and some patience haha.

A coffee get-together sounds fun, to be organized soon, why not?
