If you guys read Chinese, tt1069.com has gd reviews of korean gay saunas. Went sparex last week twice around 6-8 pm weekdays. Huge jimjlibang with all the facilities but although there are a few glances here n there, there are no places to go further within. Great place to ogle at some korean young men but there were only abt 20-30 guys and at least half were guys much older.

saw the notice about wearing sleepwear but saw many nude guys up there. i wore initially but later took everything off as it was hot. the assistant came up n cleared away towels, he didnt say anything. there were some with sleepwear and they most likely straight ones as they were resting in front area.

That is weird, I see the massage guy was always around waiting there. There is a sign saying that massage/scrub is only available 9am-5pm, despite the sauna being open 7am-7pm.

Personally prefer another spa if wanna ogle at korean young men as this spa has some sofa with TV in the middle of the changing room - can just sit there with your phones and relax while naked young men walk around lol.

The scrub guy is slim older and he limps a bit.  So you can’t miss him.  He is half Japanese half Korean and can speak little English.  I always pick the last option (most expensive one which I think is 70k won).

I had my ultra warm heatech, fleece, wool shirt and jacket. Im someone whom find 18 degrees really cold already. These keep me warm outdoor. Most eating places and shopping centres have heater on, hence im suffering. Need to remove my jacket and shirt. 

 

The locals wear long puffy jackets by Northface, National Geographic.. 

 

Footwear - wear boots, otherwise sportshoe with thick socks, preferable by heatech brand. 

 

You may need neck warmer and face mask, it helps when cold wind blows. 

 

You can get pad warmer from 7-11 in Seoul or get from Decathlon SG - they also have heat pad where you can stuff it in your shoe. 

 

It is expected to snow on the 2nd, 18th and 29th Dec. 

 

You may need gloves, if yes, buy those that is phone friendly, that is, you can swipe your phone with your gloves on. 

 

Even though i'm afraid of cold, i did enjoy winter. The lowest temperature when im there was -13 degrees and i was at Nami Island. The scenery was awesome. 

 

Winter Jacket at Namdaemun is cheaper, compared to SG, if you need to get 1.

Early winter in Seoul could be rather cold especially when the wind blows. Goose-feathered outer jacket and layers inside. Indoors could be rather warm due to the heating facilities. After shower or washing, moist up for body, face, lips and hands. Select a good ultra moist body butter, Bodyshop's recommended. It could snow lightly and having shoes with a good grip sole will be good too.

I have not been there, but Oban is a really cool place to visit.  I had a lot of fun there. 

 

They also have a guy giving body scrub for KRW20,000.  I looked for the body scrub guy in Deasung but I could not find him. 

 

The guy who did my bodyscrub in Oban is not young, in fact, a bit wrinkly but is a big boy.  😁

The counter guy in Daesung Sauna in Seoul is welcoming to foreigners. 

 

As for the patrons, no one says much in there.  Action speaks louder than words (pun intended) - other than moans of pleasure and appreciation.

Oban field report

 

It's a small spa, about 1/3 the size of Daeseong. The wet area has 4 standing showers, two small hot tubs (2-3 persons each only) and one big under-utilised cold tub. The steam room is super small, about 1/3 the size of Tenmen's. 6-8 guys go in and it's already full. As usual one corner is the body scrub area.

 

There are three darkrooms. One super small with standing room only. Again, 6-8 guys in and it's full. The other one is slightly bigger with bunkbeds. There is a steep staircase that leads up to a miniscule mezzanine with floor mattresses and a ceiling so low that you can't even stand up straight, so you have to stoop in. It didn't seem to bother one couple happily fucking away raw missionary style and moaning loudly for all to hear. Otherwise it was empty. 

 

The dark rooms have gigantic floor-standing air purifiers, they do a good job of keeping the air fresh.

 

I went on a weekday from 5pm to 7pm. About 10-15 people, mostly Koreans (except for 2 Japanese guys). Crowd was 30’s to 40’s, from athletic to cubs. Didn’t see any twinks, skinnies, chubs or seniors. Everybody walks around naked, some with erect dicks, and all eager to play. Demographic wise they look like urban middle class. 

 

Daeseong crowd on the other hand is 50’s and above, with some 40’s. Seniors, chubs and dad bods, mostly working class background.

 

Had fun with a cub in his 30's on a bunk bed, then a tanned (rarity in Korea) athletic guy in his 40's. Later both pounced on me again and we had an open orgy with others joining in. Also some light fun with a cub in the steam room and got a sensual massage from a cub in the hot tub.

Exit at exit 7, turn right, walk about 100m, turn right into the third side street, walk 50m and look for the double glass door entrance with two big Korean characters on top on your right. It's a brick building. Go down the stairs to basement. On the right is a small counter, pay and go in. Put your shoes in the small shoe lockers, get the key and look for the locker with same number.

9am - 9pm KRW 12,000, 9pm - 9am overnight KRW 15,000.

I tried the back scrub in Oban Sauna and I liked it.  I was naked, but the man performing the scrub was not.  Eventually, he was naked though, but that's another story.

Oban Sauna has a massage option too, I believe, but I don't read Korean, so I cannot confirm that.

 I was in Seoul 6 yrs ago ,  here's my experience of the Saunas there. It's a little dated,  and sorry for the bad  formatting  (still figuring out how to post here, will try to fix it later) ,    but for what its worth:

 

 

     GM -  (Near Nam Dae Mun cultural Park) CLOSED? 
           This place closed down a few years ago after                        being     there for like 20                     years ..  It                     was     4 floors, went there 2 nights, almost all                    chub/bear

          types. Like most places, there was no actual  sauna             or pool, only 

           bathroom showers.             

  A lot of sleeping area here,  and a lot of guys sleeping.  
           
      Eqqus - ( Itaewon,  at the time) 
              There is some debate as to whetherer this place is still  open. I went there when it was in Itaewon. It apparently  moved to Gangnam a few years ago , but may be closed now ? 
              I was refused entry because I was too old, even thoug i was 41  at the time and their offical age limit was 50. The guy at  the desk said, "well, for foriegners it's 40", so they could  be very arbitrary. I heard later they removed the limits.   ( I had fun times there like 5 years before, and there was no   age or foreigner limits at the time ) .

 

 

       Hyundae:  ( Itaewon, it's called 'HE's' now? ) 
               This is the main Sauna in Itaewon, been there for years. Think 
               its the only one there now. (After the Covid thing, they stopped
               letting in foreigners for a while, and may have an age limit of 60?). 

                 This place is large : 3 floors and the only oen with an acutal Sauna: a dry sauna.  ( I went in there several nights and there were some cute guys     fucking in there. )  THe crowd is mostly non-Korean Asians , young to middle aged, average build, but with some Koreans and others too.  

                 The atmosphere is more casual , there are big couches and lots of                      beds. There is
               no privacy or private rooms , so if you hook up , you will be watched.                   Eveyone is checking out each other with the camera lights.  It's fun to                watch guys fuck on all the beds and mats they have laid out in all the                  rooms. I met a very cute korean there and we we made out , headed to                one of the mats , and went at it.  We came all over each other, and a                    big crowd watched .. was very hot.     The next day I met a Muscular                    guy from SG  and his friend.  We made out and frotted together while                  guys sucked and fucked on the same mattress.. The only real orgy i                    ever was in ..  a lot of fun.  

 

       Shelter:  ( NonHyeon station , gangnam) 

              Here is may 'review' comment on travelgay from 2018: 

                Came here recently -- In 2018,--. I am a fit Westerner, here are my                impressions.. 

             I went on a Saturday night at around 10pm-midnight, a Monday night               around 8pm-midnight and a Tuesday night around 8pm-midnight. I was                impressed with how full it was even on Mon/Tue night which are usually              'off' night - at least 20-30 guys there. The crowd was mostly gym-fit 
            Koreans, easily the hottest crowd I've seen in a sauna. (usually many                 out-of-shape guys in Saunas ,in my experience.)

 

             The good news for foreigners is, they seem to let them in now -in                        2018-, and while I would have passed their 'inspection', They did not                    ask  me to show my body, and there were a fewer 
            fit guys there. so it didn't seem like they're all that strict. The bad news                for foreigners 
            is that the local Korean guys are mostly only into each other. And they                hook up a LOT with each other * . This not a place where people just                    stand around. (If anything the guys are overly  pushy for immediate                      action..)

 

              If you are a foreigner, I'd recommend you come earlier, stay later, and                lower your standards a bit if you want to hook up, and try not to get an                attitude towards the aloof locals - it
            will spoil your mood and make you less attractive to whomever might be               interested. I did  notice that near the end of the night, there were quite                 a  few guys, mostly Koreans, many quite hot, who were visibly                             frustrated that they could not hook up.. the mood got edgy then ..

              I would add that there is a prominent sign on the wall saying 'this is a                 no-barebackin  club', but I had several guys reject me after I refused to                bareback with them.

 

              Also, the club really is small and very dark, so it's hard to see people's             faces, or who is hooking up with who, which is always part of the fun,                IMO. And while a lot of Seoul saunas  have no privacy at all, this one has           small sleeping rooms with doors that you can close but  cannot lock.                   The rooms and doors also have windows that you can look through, if                 you     can see  in the dark. so it's not completely private. Guys tend not             to     shine phone-lights here like they do at some other places either.. I               don't know if this is by policy or not.

            meet specific people here, because this is the closest place to having                 private rooms. SO you'll see a lot of guys having sex, but they didn't                   necessarily come to hook up there, the  brought someone.

           Mun Hwa Sauna :  ( JongNo Sam Ga ) 

 

                  THis place was near where I was staying, so i went in.  Its mostly                    guys over 60 I would say, alot of them sleeping on the floor in the                      locker/changing room.  This place has actual pools
          and a Sauna, but kind of old and not necc. clean looking.   All the                        action happens on the top
        floor 'sleeping' area, which is very Dark and its hard to see what is                      happening.  I went on a  week night and there were lots of guys sleeping ,          but you could hear some action going o  in the dark.  

 

           Hamilton Hotel  (Itaewon) 

                This place is not gay, and when I went in 2018 on a friday night it was          deserted, ( i had some   action there back in 2009). There were several               'crackdowns' on the action here  even before Covid, but I've heard there             is till some action there .. but I only went once in 2018 so I don't know
               much. 

 

           Prince : ( Gangnam) :  I never went here, as I heard they didn't let in                   foreigners.
