Heart-throb Edwin Goh's kiss with Dawn Yeoh exposed

IT WAS a brief romance that lasted all of three months.

 

Local actor Edwin Goh, who found fame on the Channel 5 period drama Fighting Spiders and Channel 8 hit series On The Fringe, has called it quits with his girlfriend Jayley Woo, a finalist in last year's The New Paper New Face competition and an aspiring actress.

 

Like the oft-melodramatic storylines found in MediaCorp dramas, the young couple's break-up turned out to be a tad scandalous too.

 

Last December, 17-year-old Edwin was spotted kissing local actress Dawn Yeoh, 25, on the lips at popular nightspot Zouk, reported Lianhe Wanbao earlier this week.

 

Woo, 21, said she felt something was amiss with him and checked his mobile phone.

 

To her shock, she discovered that her beau had texted Yeoh: "I enjoyed the kiss."

 

Yeoh, in return, sent Edwin the message: "You must be faithful to your girlfriend."

 

After entering showbiz in 2006, Yeoh was labelled one of MediaCorp's Seven Princesses, along with Joanne Peh and Rui En.

 

Then Woo found out that her boyfriend had grown close to Fu Fangrong, his teen co-star on the upcoming Channel U drama Jump, calling her "baby" in his text messages to her.

 

Edwin told Lianhe Wanbao that he and Fu were just friends. He confessed that he had kissed Yeoh, but denied two-timing Woo.

 

Explaining that the kiss with Yeoh was "a joke of sorts", he insisted that "it's impossible between us". Then, he revealed he had split up with Woo a few weeks ago.

 

Since the kiss with Yeoh went public, Edwin and Woo have been unusually low-key, a departure from their chatty selves during a joint interview with The New Paper last November where they gushed about their relationship.

 

Not only has Edwin deactivated his Twitter account, his mobile phone number is no longer in use.

 

Similarly, Woo declined an interview with The New Paper, explaining via SMS: "I'm really just keeping off the media regarding this. Hope you understand, so sorry."

 

However, their recent blog entries provided some insight into their respective emotional states.

 

In one post, Woo described herself as trying to hold back tears: "I don't think anyone really knows how it feels like to be me right now... my vision is kinda foggy."

 

Another entry saw her in a slightly more upbeat mood : "I'm not going to blog about anything related to that... people will deem that it's my side of the story. And haters are gonna hate anyway, so no point trying to explain to them."

 

As for Edwin, a blog entry titled "Tsk Tsk Tsk" hinted at his anger over people's reactions to the split.

 

"You dorks can definitely call me names," he wrote.

 

The New Paper contacted Edwin's good friend and On The Fringe co-star Ian Fang, who said: "Edwin is fine lah. He is okay. As a friend of his, I will definitely support him, no matter what."

 

When pressed if Edwin opened up to him with details about his break-up with Woo, Fang, 23, replied curtly: "No, we don't talk about things like that."

 

Yeoh, who had earlier told Lianhe Wanbao apologetically that the kiss was a result of one drink too many, remained reticent as well.

 

"I do not want to entertain exaggerated stories like this any more," she told The New Paper in an e-mail reply.

He was, after all, a regular of the cast in Point of Entry.

 

He happens to be in the wrong age category at this moment - not young enough and not old enough.
