No male massage therapist is ever straight in such places catering for man-only spa. Either bisexual or bicurious or gay. And, the owner is well aware that most of the clienteles coming to places like this are gay. Based on your story about the encounter in the steam room, they are definitely enjoying the benefits of each other. But just not in front of customers or they are just being cautious. No "Straight" guys ever go to male-only spa for men's touch lol. Besides, their ads on social media are so giving out gay vibes.

Best now is to stay away any men-only spa that include steamroom and sauna facilities. This is a very trying time for gay spa owners and frequent patrons. Any time of any day one could get arrested and charged just for going to these places. Not to mention there is a bunch of prostitute dens in petaling street raided yesterday.

Anyway, does TeMan allow walk-in to use only the sauna/steamroom or just exclusively for massage paying customer only?

Yes, TeMan allows walk-in customers to use sauna, steamroom and jacuzzi for RM60.00.

Rights group documents 11 alleged violations against detainees in Chow Kit raid

KUALA LUMPUR: Human rights group Justice for Sisters has documented 11 alleged violations in the treatment of detainees following the raid on a “health club” in Chow Kit here on Nov 28.

Justice for Sisters co-founder Thilaga Sulathireh claimed that the detainees were not informed of their rights and were only able to contact their family members eight hours later, causing some relatives to lodge missing persons reports.

....

“A lot of the questions asked were about sex, their sex life, their sexual orientation, and whether they had HIV, creating an intimidating environment,” Thilaga said at a press conference today.

She said several detainees described poor management during their processing, overcrowded and inadequate detention conditions, denial of access to toilets, and prolonged periods without food or water.

“During the raid, there were at least three medical emergencies, and other detainees had to provide immediate support because there were no medical teams on site,” she said.

How about OTOT now?closed or still open?still have people going thr?

Mr Fadil said that the police, the local authorities and the religious department are now working to ensure that the wellness centre, which operated as a gym with its upper floors converted into a sauna and jacuzzi, ceases operations permanently.

Source: https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/kl-police-under-fire-after-gay-spa-raid-exposes-mens-identities-but-yields-no-prosecutions

They seem adamant to get the place shut down so sadly it will probably remain closed for the foreseable future. Personally, I'm gonna hold on to my membership card hoping that it will reopen one day.

I peeked at the entrances of saunas near KL Sentral and they all seem to be opened. So just because Otot2 got raided, not all places are affected. But I'm sure everywhere the crowd is reduced somewhat.

Certainly the crowd is greatly reduced. I sincerely hope people like us are not dumb enough to go to saunas during this trying time in the risk of getting caught. The patrons who were arrested, 8 out of 11, in U2 Penang are charged indefinitely. I feel sorry for them although some of them may have not been having sex in the premise but only cruising around. It is a ticking time-bomb if one ever step into the sauna.

Otot2 is already a gone case. i highly doubt it will be revived. Also, the owners are old retirees. They could just drop the business and move on to the next venture.

Nobody knows for sure.

Some people (especially homophobes... and internalised homophobes) want it to close for good. Some people who craves a community space like me want it to reopen as soon as possible and stay open.

One thing for sure the authorities found no evidence of prostitution inside the premise during their raid like they allege hence they cannot simply revoke Otot²'s business license. The owner can open the Otot²'s door now if they want to, emboldened by the fact that they have done nothing wrong and future raids will result in the community and allies firmly marching behind them again.

Well, if you can make it over to PJ - there's a lot of nice/trendy cafes all about the area as well. I'm less familiar with KL so I feel safer just driving in and around PJ only, if you're up for it.

It sounds like the raid on Otot2 really had a ripple effect, impacting even businesses that wouldn't typically be directly involved, like TeMan Spa. The receptionist at TeMan Spa shared that there is rapidly decreasing number of visitors hence they start to focus on outcall massage now. Their strategy to pivot by offering home service massages is definitely an interesting move, but it also speaks volumes about the atmosphere of fear and uncertainty that's affecting the industry as a whole.

TeMan Spa, based on what I read here in this thread and saw their promo videos on reel, is a typical "wellness" hub for gay man but only targeting higher-end customers. So it is no surprise their number of customers declined steeply. Although their core service is providing legit massage, other facilities like steamroom/sauna/jacuzzi would always be the place where sexual activity happens, and this can be the sole excuse for the authorities to conduct a raid. In their "religious" point of view, when there is a men spa catering for men only is equivalent to gay men gathering for immoral activity. Also, most customers wouldn't want to get arrested halfway through a massage. lol

Home-based massage service probably the only way for them to sustain the business but not for long run. A lot of customer would still very much prefer in-house service for the sake of convenience.

All in all, we will never know when they strike again for another raid.

they don't have to charge or convict you of anything

just bring along the media, your face showing in any video footage is enough to strike fear into anyone of us

The recent cabinet reshuffle saw the heads of the ministries responsible for last month's raid on Otot2—the Federal Territories and Religious Affairs Ministries—lose their positions and be replaced. Hannah Yeoh, the new FT Minister, is viewed as sympathetic toward the LGBT community, while the new Religious Affairs Minister is a moderate scholar.

----

On the other hand, Na’im’s removal comes somewhat as a surprise since the former shariah court chief judge had only been sworn in for a second term as senator just two weeks ago.

As religious affairs minister, he was widely seen as an apolitical appointee but had drawn criticism from civil society groups over his hardline remarks on morality and issues involving the LGBTQ community.

I would like to advise for local Singaporean please be careful about going to sauna in Malaysia as one phone call from the public straight away the venue will be raid as what I hear from the local they really homophobic. Best used grindr or go to bar and clubs.

Posted

Homophobic reports of 'immoral activities' can happen anywhere, not just at saunas. Grindr isn't the best place to make connections here either, given the number of scammers it tends to attract.

Not trying to scare anyone off from visiting Malaysia—Lord knows we cannot survive without Singaporeans' $$$—but if you do come, please make your own risk assessment before participating in any gay activities—just as we gay locals have been doing all our lives.

Personally I have the feeling this minister was sacked due to his overreach.

Malaysia doesn't want to be in the world news for such raids which later turn out being even more embarrassing to the police authorities.

I didn't buy the excuse about "that there was no victim".

377A needs evidence on anal or oral penetration. If the police really wanted to go after it, then...

Some years back they didn't have the issue with the current PM.

This all hints to me that the police authority was stopped from the Home Affairs Minister (or someone else).

It looks somehow to me that the the Islamic Affairs minister "conspired" with Police Head or the Police head was being overwhelmed by the approach of that Islamic Affairs Minister to take a sort of action (but would have been advised to seek approval from his Home Affairs Minister first, which didn't happen.)

From the media reports it was also clear to me who was actually behind all of this, just check who was the loudest voice mentioned in the media... at any report and even insisted on going after the detained by religious laws when the police had already stopped everything.

Do you guys fear to bring masseurs to come up to your hotel in kl now?

Fear in terms of what? Of being robbed or getting caught?

The chance for the latter would be none. In fact, what you did in your own hotel room is nobody's business.

Bringing massuer to your hotel room probably the safest as compared to going to massage shop.

Trying my luck.

These used to be this exclusive massage group on Telegram discussing massage parlors in Klang Valley. Some users shared about a massage parlor in Bukit Bintang with a jacked masseur. Something about this masseur being Pakistani but incredibly ripped, smells good and is great with his hands. If he takes you to a room on the second floor of the massage parlor nearing the end of the hallway, you're in for a treat.

There's a picture of him ripped in a polo tee with a cap. Curious if anyone knows of this place and masseur in discussion as I'm keen to revisit this. DM me with details to avoid exposing the place to a potential raid, if you happen to know something.
