I think the hotel is doing this to stop their facility from becoming Singapore's next gay sauna. The times that I have been there I have not thought it to be too crowded and I find it hard to believe that a hotel will stop a nice little income earner just because people are actually using their facility.

 

While I dont think the hotel would mind a few homosexuals using their facilities provided that they behaved themselves, or were at least very discreet, if their behaviour starts to affect their guest's enjoyment of the place then they have to put a stop to it.

 

It seems the the new people coming in are becoming more daring and behaving like they would in a gay sauna. On my last visit there was one guy (local) very openly masturbating in the steam room in front of everyone including straight hotel guests. The guest who was sitting next to me very quickly left in disgust. So if a few of the guests start complaining about the behaviour going, they can't turn a blind eye, which is what I think happened.

 

Abuse the privilege and it quickly gets taken away from you.

I would find it offensive too if I was a straight guy and I witnessed what happened in the previous post. Some people might even report you to the front desk.

I had the opportunity to stay at Traders hotel 2 days ago and used the spa facility. Not only the facility was really thorough and good, but the experience I had inside the steam room was also indeed very "steamy"!

I booked a room for 2 nights for my uncle who's visiting town at the Grand Hyatt this week, now I'm hesitating to go and visit their spa. Never saw it.

I am going for a massage at Urban Spa through a groupon deal this Fri. It seems like I can opt for the usage of their spa facility with some top up. Not sure if it is still happening in there?

So sad Spring spa is closed... visited once , i like the dim long pool and you can watch tv and relax.

It happen to be the str spa that has the most number of nude soakers, mostly japanese. 

 

I think Spa 1 is controlling and exercising the facilities to be more strict to lessen any cruising activities. However its clean , well maintain and friendly staff is still relatively good to rest, relax and forget all your troubles for a while. There are no eye candies so if you want to see, then its not the right place.

 

Ikeda has been around for quite long, but the bathhouse in clarke quay with the concept of onsen is ridiculous. 1stly I read there is only one small onsen co-shared by both sexes at staggered time. (the man time is from evening onwards) There is the usual sitting down shower facilities, but I think that is about it. It says the usage is $80!

 

It reminded me of the 1st jijimbang in Singapore at merchant court. I was lucky to the 1st few that visited and spoke to the boss, with the intention of reaching out to its 30K koreans staying here. Unfortunately they keep changing their business strategy and eventually withdraw. The korean sauna is full nudity and i visited many time with friends and there are only koreans everytime we visit. Entrance was only $30. Its a real pity it closed.

 

I like Urban spa in some ways. Its spacious and clean. the hot jacuzzi is strong and hot, so it the steam room and sauna. Unfortunately there is no tv or a good rest lounge. Food is simple with dessert, toast and drinks. And there are very few patrons or simply you having the whole place, but times I rather have the whole place on my own than another weird cruiser following me and  disturb me.
