BA used to pay much more but now pay cut. SQ pays much better.

but turnover rate in BA is very low as compared to SQ. their welfare and benefits are well taken care of and working environment is better than SQ.

For FS like us ,once we leave service it's near to impossible to cme bck to service and even if we do ... We wld have to restart all over again ...new contract n new staff nos.

Yes. I rather start all over again BA than SQ ...The training for BA is only 1 mth as for SQ is almost 4mths lolx.

I guess in terms of destination variety, SQ is sooooooo much better than BA ... I mean, LON, PVG, PEK, SYD ???? Kinda boring destination i reckon.

With SQ, you get to fly to such destinations as Istanbul, Moscow, Houston, New York, San Francisco, Cairo, Rome, Tokyo, San Paulo etc, etc. Too bad flights to Athens have been discontinued. I remember going on a 3-islands tour and enjoying myself very much . And of course haggling for cheap souvenirs at the flea market of Plaka and going up the Acropolis to view the majestic scenery of the city ...

Ah.... Those were the good ol' days :)

xoxo.

thanks.

anyway, $36k pa is really really low for a cabin crew.

20 yrs ago, it was already higher than this.

Yea works out to be only 3k per month. BA crew used to earn much higher than this.

With this pay and limited destinations, not quite worth it if u are an ex SQ crew.

But BA turnover rate is very low, not like SQ where people come and go after a few years.

EK is another good airline to work for. They give u full furnished accommodation in dubai but u must be based there. But there are free tickets back home yearly and u get quite a no. of sg flights.

CX also takes in local stewardesses but not sure for stewards. One requirement is that u must be able to speak cantonese. QF also has a high no. of asian crew.

Flying to a few fixed cities can be good or bad.

But getting a pay lower than that of 20 yrs ago is definitely bad.

to be fair, BA pay maybe lower but u r only required to fly to that few fixed cities.

i think its good n predictable.

depends on how u see it. predictable can be very boring, rather than being able to fly to many cities.

however, u are likely to see the same faces everytime and if u click with them, u will have an enjoyable flight.

hi, im going for the interview on 28th..u guys too?

Nothing to do with being patriotic, but I guess I am totally biased here. I reckon, if you wannabe a flight steward, the only carrier one should fly would be with SQ.

xoxo.

Are there alot of gays in SIA?

Do the gays sleep among themselves when they are overseas?

Depends on your definition of alot(sic).

Nope, they dont (that is if you are refering to gay SQ crew). Sorry to burst your bubble.

went to the recent walk in interview on saturday w/o harbouring much expectation and surprisingly, i got selected. passing rate was only around 3% so i must have been really lucky!

now i am pondering whether i should accept the job. it is really once in a lifetime experience but i do not see it as my lifelong career.

i am graduating with a bachelor's degree soon, any current or ex cabin crew care to advise?
