Guest Well... Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Spare me, it was like regular mediacorp "STAR AWARD" event. I have better things to do, like watching porn, jerk off and than snooze quietly under my warm bed. Quote
nixorn Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) What do u think of NDP theme song Our Singapore by Dick Lee? The earlier 3 nominated SG50 songs : These Are The Days(winner), Being Here and We Are Stars. ************************ Others....which i enjoy more than the above... Beautiful cinematography...only if can reduce LKY's dialogue. Simple emotional high chorus parts.... Upbeat song.... More fun..creative use of webpages.... 2 Chinese songs Indian song Edited June 8, 2015 by nixorn Bern 1 Quote
Chan Chee Wai Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Nowaday, Dick Lee is not so lively as in the 90s...his songs are getting cool, mostly dedicated to their own age group of people (Old). To me, his songs are not active anymore, don't have the strength of youngsters.....ND songs should have full of energy and power such as Count on me Singapore, Stand up for Singapore, ....etc. Dick Lee singing style getting not so good nowaday...don't know why?I still prefers ND songs oldies. Guest guest Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 JJ Lin singing Our Singapore...a more light-hearted MV...with a short glimpse of swimmer Mr Quah at 00:46s. These are the Days - official mv...abit blurry. Quote

Guest Fatty Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Nice song. A hundred times better than the rubbish they churned out over the past few years.Dick lee is singing with piano accompaniment. It can't be as epic with an orchestra or band performance. It's a matter of arrangement and production. Quote

luke84 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 燕姿's song is a nice, like it, thought i think linking it to SG50 a bit 牽強. it is touching, full of gratefulness and hoping for a simple life, love the arrangement (not really a rap person though) but still don't really see the link to SG50 or it being a National Day song Quote
Guest Guest Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Lyrics must be simple and easy to remember, otherwise it won't go down well as a ND song. Quote
Guest Neh Neh Posted August 1, 2015 Posted August 1, 2015 Frankly im a bit disappointed with the SG50 NDP theme song Our Singapore. I do not get much emotion and passion from it. Not like the above 3 old NDP songs. Our Singapore is like making a statement that now we are a successful nation. Full of achievements and good life. Yes it is true. But what is next and where we should go next. I feel the goal is missing. Not like the above past 3 NDP themes, there were goal set for the people and clearly told everyone to unite and move to one goal. I best love stand up for singapore."Stand up for singapore. Do it with a smile." Quote
Guest Guest Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Agree, it sounded like a song for 50 year olds to reminisce about their past achievements. Boring. Next! Quote
Guest Guest Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 It sounded like a rip off of home by american idol winner philips philips Quote
Guest Guest Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 Regardless how "bad" those old National Day songs were, they were all still so much better than the one from recent years by a far cry. Even the last video on "Count on me Singapore", involving a potpourri of civilians, was even better than the one from last year where they got old folks from the Armed Forces to go READ out the lyrics. And let's not forget about that Lady Gaga's knock off about kopi-something and teh-something too. That was really bad. We used to remember how to sing these songs at school during the morning parade. I'd rather die if I have to do it all over again with those National Day songs from the previous few years. Quote
azimuth Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I realized some of our train stations have started playing national day songs. Feeling very patriotic already. Heh. Quote
Guest Home Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 "Home" is without doubt the best one. It would've been nice if the SG50 song is just as good, if not better. But alas, life is not like that and creativity does not come when you want it to. I believe Dick Lee was living overseas at the time, hence the inspiration. Perhaps rather than forcing a new song, it might have been better to produce the oldies with a different arrangement. So too my wish for Singapore is that we can find what truly made us successful in the last 50 and reinvent that for the future. Quote
bluerunner Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 This year, Kit Chan sings HOME so well (again!!!) Really moved by that song. So meaningful. Quote
Guest Guest Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 I think she rang exceptionally well this year! Quote
nixorn Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Tomorrow's Here Today Music and Lyrics by Don RichmondPerformed by 53A From newspapers, compared to last yr's more serious feel (SG50), this is supposed to more let-go feel....and MV is captured in an one-shot style. Personally....nice happy feel...but not much memorable feel after 2 times of listen. Quote
loacker Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 quite a cheerful song..perhaps after SG50 signaling another new and brighter chapter coming.. Quote
Guest Guest36 Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Weak lyrics with little reference to Singapore, whether directly or indirectly. Also, the music seems to cater to the youngsters. Sigh. Quote
Guest 可悲可凄 Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 国庆周年歌曲老早就失去原有的内涵与精神,这是大家都知道的事实,一年不如一年,一代不如一代, 尤其在李国父走后,更明显。 Quote

Guest Ocean Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I was wondering when will they give audience the fringe, something like this instead of a jaded, politically correct lyrics usuall dry national day song? Quote
