I also did that when I was in Hanoi last year.  I was there for a week, and I just ate and ate.  

 

But I did visit a sauna though.  😁

I'll be going Hanoi for a week and intend to eat, shop, daily onsen and exercise.

Experts,

how much USD/Viet dong do we need per day?? on average? or per 3days per 5days?

and would be glad if you know how mcuh do we need to prepare for Cambodia (USD) too?

Exclude Sauna/Massage/onsen , but do include transport and food etc

Transport, just use Grab so you don't have to worry about cash.

 

Food, I used credit card if a restaurant accepts it. Stalls/street food is cheap, equivalent of a couple of SGD per dish.

 

You won't need much cash for food.

 

Same applies for Cambodia.

If you are concerned about money, just take more than you need, and change any excess back when you return to Singapore. By Singapore standards, things are cheap in these countries.

This thread seems to have not too much information on Da Nang. Here is my trip report from a visit a few weeks ago:

 

Accommodation

I chose Four Points by Sheraton as it advertises a sauna/steam room/jacuzzi. The hotel was fine, but the wet area was never busy. No cruising at all.

 

Sauna

Gentlemen Sauna. I highly recommend it. I visited around 5:00pm-7:00pm on a Wednesday and there were easily 20-30 people there. But when I visited at a similar time on a Friday, it didn't get busy to closer to 7pm. 100000 VND entry, which is about $5 SGD. 150000 on weekends. The staff were nice and were actively cleaning. The locals at the sauna are not shy! Even as an older and a bit heavier foreigner, I got plenty of attention. They were very friendly, often saying hi and asking where I was from. There is a mixed crowd, mainly locals, 20s to 60s, different body types.

 

Tip: it is quite dark inside, so go before sunset when some light comes through the windows. The man on the front desk, Lam, is so nice. He would appreciate the opportunity to practise his English with any English-speaking visitors!

 

Professional Massage

With the high Korean tourist numbers in Da Nang, I was looking for a traditional (professional) Korean body scrub, as you would get at a Korean bathhouse. I tried Wyndham Da Nang Golden Bay and was disappointed. They have a small sauna which seats 4 maximum, no steam room, a jacuzzi, and hardly anyone there despite staff saying this was their busiest time. The lady who did the body scrub didn't use a mitt, rather a special oil which was quite abrasive when she rubbed it into the skin. Sauna entry is 200000 VND (10 SGD), the body scrub was 500000 VND (25 SGD).

 

Gay Massage

Before going to Da Nang I contacted T Ten Massage, Hero Massage Spa and Nom Spa for Men (all on WhatsApp) and Naomi Spa (Telegram). 

 

T Ten Massage responded with the price list but didn't initially answer any follow up questions. When I contacted them a couple of weeks later, they confirmed they only offer regular massages but with a HE option.

 

Naomi Spa was the first I visited. In my prior messages with them they had confirmed the prices and what was included in each massage, and I was disappointed to turn up and be told something different. I ended up having a 60 minute session with Tung which cost 1300000, 1000000 for the massage and 300000 tip/service fee. This included naked masseur, a decent massage, mutual BJ, kissing and HE. He was excellent. The setup was good, with proper massage tables and rooms with showers, although the shower was the type where it is over a bath, and there was nothing to stop the water splashing on the floor.

 

Naomi Spa update - I visited again a few weeks ago. Prior to the visit I had clarified again what the different rates included. I opted for Combo 3 for 1500000 which does include sex. I visited twice - once with Tuan and once with Do. Both were excellent. I won't put the details here but happy to share via DM if needed.

 

Hero Massage Spa was next. Their communication via WhatsApp was excellent. They also have Telegram @hero_massage_da_nang. The hospitality on arrival and afterwards was the best I've seen, their manager was really nice and welcoming. I had a "King Massage" for 60 minutes with a nice masseur called Bap. King Massage includes naked masseur, ability to touch the masseur and HE. The massage itself involved oil and had some body-to-body sections. I got the impression that no other services were available from Hero Massage. 60 minutes costs 1.1 million, 75 minutes is 1.3 million and 90 minutes 1.5 million. I thought Bap's massage skills were quite good. There was a massage table, but the room had curtains around it. There was also a shower in the adjoining room which I used before and after the massage.

 

Next was Nom Spa for Men. I had the 60 minute King Massage for 1.2 million. 75 minutes costs 1.5 and 90 minutes 1.7. King massage includes naked masseur and sensual massage, but not sex. My masseur's name was Sin. The massage itself was ok, but his sensual massage was very good. It included prostate massage, body to body and HE, but no BJ. The problem with Nom Spa was the environment - it was messy and dirty, with rubbish and clutter everywhere. I did take one photo of the bathroom, which I can share via DM if you are considering Nom Spa and are concerned about the environment. I was pretty shocked that they would have customers in such an environment and that it didn't seem to worry them. I did give them this feedback and they were most apologetic. The waiting room/entrance is also very exposed to the street, so I didn't feel there was much privacy for guests. Both of the staff I had contact with were really nice, and their communication on WhatsApp was good. Google reviews of Nom Spa really emphasise how clean it is, which is strange because that wasn't my experience.

 

Bliss Home Spa for Men. I didn't visit them but I contacted them via WhatsApp. 900k for the base massage and then extra services negotiated with the masseur.

 

If you are looking for more services beyond HE, I recommend Naomi Spa.

 

I can answer any questions here or via DM. Does anyone have other massage places to recommend? Or better accommodation? Or somewhere to get a Korean-style no-frills body scrub in Da Nang?

Concluded my Danang trip with an out-call massage, and a brief session at a local sauna.

 

Out-call with Hero Spa:

Masseur arrived on time, picked him up at hotel lobby. Young, petite shy guy, surprised that he is better looking than the photo I received. Totally my type.

 

Took a quick shower while he prepare the bed for massage. Came out seeing him in his undies and me in towels. Brief convo before we both undress fully for the massage. Strokes were long and soothing, pressure was ok. Half way into the massage he asked if I opted for Royal massage which I confirmed. He said I'm free to touch his body anywhere, it's included in the package. I answered that I'm saving the best for the last hahaha.

BTW i think he is the owner) who gave me massages 9 years ago still works here.  He definitely has the best massage skills of all the blind massage places I've tried during this trip. Highly recommend!

 

2. Massage - Xông hơi Toàn Thắng (126 Đ. Thành Thái, Phường 12, Quận 10): Super active. I was there in the afternoon and there were about 20 guys and almost everyone was PLU (mostly uncles in their 40s and older).  Not too sure about the tipping culture in VN, but the masseur tried to get me to tip him at the end of the massage. I didn't see others get asked though. Perhaps b/c I was a foreigner? Can anyone clear this up?

UPDATE: Also went back here for a second time, and talked to a guy there.  Apparently people normally tip 50K. I think this place is the most gay one out of all the blind massage places.  People are NOT shy about their actions lol.

 

3. Spa khiếm thị ÁNH DƯƠNG (355|27, Đ. Sư Vạn Hạnh, Phường 12, Quận 10) : 

Went back here on my last trip to HCMC in 2024, and I do NOT recommend this place any more since they're now offering their service at significantly higher prices for foreigners. I immediately left the place after noticing the price difference, smh... 

 

Someone earlier mentioned "Blind massage institute" in Dist. 1, well, like he said the masseur tried to give me a HE too, but not only the place was not private enough to do so, also the techniques (as in actual massage techniques) were pretty bad.. just some random pushing and poking. So yeah....

 

Anyway, will stay for a few more days and check out more places... to be continued.

4. Spa Massage khiếm thị Hoàng Triều 2 (161 Hoà Hưng, Phường 12, Quận 10): Four words: Avoid At All Costs. The guy giving massages apparently did NOT go through any proper training whatsoever.  Even worse than Blind Massage Institute Dist. 1.  Never coming back.

 

5. Massage xông hơi Khiếm thị VT 669 (329/20 Nguyễn Tiểu La, Phường 8, Quận 10): This one is listed on the site as "gay-friendly", and I guess the masseur's hands were pretty "friendly" toward the end of the session.  I declined his invite since, one, I was not interested in him and two the way he was doing it was like a chore.  Felt kinda bad if I asked him to continue. Perhaps a place to get HE if you're up for it.

 

6. Massage Ấn huyệt khiếm thị thiên phú (247/4 Bà Hạt, Phường 4, Quận 10) : This one is hidden in a small alley, but they do put signs on the walls at the entrance so it shouldn't be super hard to find if you pay attention to the street numbers.  I wouldn't call this place a "shop" because it seems like it's like someone's house that's been converted.  To get to the area where they do massages, you'll have to climb up a set of VERY steep stairs (BE super careful!). Skill-wise, pretty solid; nothing extra.  Bonus point, the young lady running this place does speak some English; probably the best one of all the places I've checked out. Recommend.

 

7. Xông hơi - Massage Khiếm thị 97G (97G Nguyễn Duy Dương, Phường 9, Quận 5): This one is your regular blind massage place, nothing too special; however I did come across a guy who tried to do stuff to me, but i was not interested in him at all. (Prices: 60 min--120K; 90 min--180K)

 

8. Blind masseur institute (353 Trần Hưng Đạo B, Phường 10, Quận 5): NOTE: this one is NOT the one in District 1, but in District 5 instead; although I believe this one is probably just a branch.  ALSO, the location on Google Maps is a bit off (I've been trying to correct it, but Google rejected my reports. Follow the street numbers and you'll find it). In terms of massage skills, here is MUCH better.  The two guys I've tried were both good.  The top floor has a sauna, but, according to a customer, nothing really happens there. I saw two uncles playing on the second floor opposite the massage room.  The only thing i absolutely did not like was the fact that they do not separate male customers from females, which I found very weird since almost all the other places have different areas/floors for each gender.  District 5 is also known as the Chinatown of HCMC, so you might be able to find some mandarin/cantonese/Southern Min speaking guys here.

 

9. Massage Khiếm Thị Tiến Minh (138/14 Đ. Nguyễn Trãi, Phường 3, Quận 5): Another blind massage parlor in District 5 and this one is both nicer and more active than the previous two.  People get pretty touchy and feely on the top floor where the sauna is, but everyone is much more shy than Massage - Xông hơi Toàn Thắng (#2 on this list, man! that place can get crazy!). In terms of masseurs, they got pretty good skills.  Definitely give it a go when you need a good massage.

 

10. Massage Khiếm Thị Vinh Phát (402|19, Hoà Hảo, Phường 5, Quận 10) : Regular massage place, nothing special. Not busy either.

 

SIDE NOTE: There is another Spa khiếm thị ÁNH DƯƠNG on this street.  It is not marked on Google Maps, but if you entered this alley from Hoà Hảo Street, and keep going straight, you'll see it pretty easily.  I personally did not even bother to try this place since apparently they have different price lists for Vietnamese and foreigners.  The one for foreigners, written in English, is much more expensive than the Vietnamese version.  After noticing the price differences, I immediately left...

 

Couple things I find to be a bit annoying across almost every single massage parlor are that, one, the massages are always shorter than they supposed to be.. Like if I ask for an one-hour massage, it always ends around 45-50 mins; and if I want a 90-mins one, it never goes beyond 80 mins.  Does anyone else encounter this problem? Would have been a lot better if they keep a timer or something...Two, the inconsistency of skills among different masseurs. I mean I do understand that different people may have different styles, but the differences are so noticeable that it becomes a game of chance. If you're lucky, you might get someone really good, but if not, well... your money just went down the drain..

 

So yep, here you go, my report on all the blind massage places I've tried during this trip. Hopefully it would be helpful for y'all!  And for now, it's time to pack and say goodbye to HCMC, until next time
