Been to Youth Park swimming pool once in early 2010s on a weekday afternoon. Many swimmers then but didn't notice any cruising activities (unlike in Hong Kong Kowloon Park swimming pool where people cruise openly). Quote

A farang got his heirloom necklace snatched in the dark room. The piece was handed down to him by his grandma. The darkroom is, well dark. Once he realized what just happened, and let everybody know, it's long gone. Staff of course wouldn't turn on the light and stop everybody to search. Logically it'd be easy since everybody was naked, but that'd be a huge image problem for the place. Imagine rows of naked people lining up for search, and not the kind of cavity search in porn. Stopping at doors would require all night work, because not everybody'd leave at the same time. Leave valuables at the hotel, just stating the obvious. And then 1 Quote

It definitely became more exciting. There was also a hot spring in Beitou that I do not remember the name of. It seemed quite old. It had one pool style hot spring, a cold circular pool, one small steam room, and another pool with water jets. I am very timid and quite insecure, so as you can guess, I do not usually initiate. Still, things happened and I was able to enjoy myself. Well, except at Kiwi Express, since I did not know that you had to shower later. But I am sure I will come back. For this trip, I am planning to visit Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. I will stay in two of those places. For Kaohsiung, I read here that I should stay in Linsen. I think they take phone bookings (from Taiwanese) so they get booked out for that night (maybe also the Friday) You can also consider going to Tainan, staying at 1881 hostel, especially on weekend. Just came back from Taiwan 2 weeks ago. I missed wulai 66 by one day. I skipped wulai altogether since 66 was the driving force motivating me to brave the long transit time. Hans is always the highlight of the trip for me. I feel so desirable there. The guys are just so open and willing. The sauna/steam is always memorable. Was planning to see I/O sauna but the reviews are so bad that i just skipped it. As for Kaohsiung, I stayed in Single Inn Linsen but it was very empty on weekdays. There was one night around 10pm and I was the only one in the bathing area. Also be careful as there are straight guys there. The place really needed a lot of maintenance and cleaning. I also tried HiMan sauna on a weekday during their "happy hour" and it was awful. There were like 8 people, 4 of them very old and the other 4 are somewhere inside. There was some action happening in the very dark room but its too big and dark to find them. The place is run down and the bath is very slippery so be careful if you plan to visit. Getting to 'Beitou Hot Springs Resort' (南丰天玥泉会馆) Based solely on train ride (from XiMen), the time taken was under 40 minutes, including waiting/transfers at the 2 interchange stations (TaiBei CheZhan/台北车站 & BeiTou/北投) - took the train to the end point of XinBeiTou (新北投) station, and walked under 5 minutes and you'll reach 'Beitou Hot Springs Resort' (南丰天玥泉会馆). There were 2 exits at XinBeiTou station, take exit 1 and follow the red arrows to reach Zhongshan Road, crossing only 1 traffic light junction. You won't get it wrong as opposite the hot spring is a park (no buildings). Once you see the resort (see image above the map), walk into the building through the wooden automatic door would be the reception and they would direct you to the hot spring pools after making payment. Pretty easy eh, since it is also near to 'Shan-Yue' Hot Spring. Admission price Went on a weekday and paid NT$700 for admission (weekends' price would be NT$800) - most expensive among the few hot springs eh. The guy at the counter was very good looking (there were 3 people manning the counter), I simply just walked up to him ignoring the rest (he was there when I left, and I also returned the key to him), haha. However, this admission price came with a coupon for snack (for use on that day only), but you could only 'eat' after you're done with soaking or about to leave, because once you came out of the hot spring area, you would not be allowed to re-enter again. The snack area will close at 9pm daily (see sample images right below this paragraph). No limit to what you could eat, but there were not many options (orange juice/coffee/tea/green tea, popcorns, marble cake slices, biscuits, waffle slices, bread & dessert) - so this place is still more expensive though light snacks included eh, haha. This place closes at 10pm daily, same as 'Shan-Yue', so you won't missed the last train back to town (anyway, last train would be at nearly 12am). What to bring Water bottle (any size, in case the cups ran out but optional as they did provide paper cups) - for you to refill water for hydration. [also can be treated as 'nothing to bring'] What is inside the locker Same as 'Shan-Yue', they would issue you a number tagged locker key for your clothes. I've gotten an even-numbered locker, which was the lower one (upper lockers were odd-numbered) and right below it was the shoe locker, without lock, for you to put your shoes (you wear your shoes all the way into the locker area) and the inhouse slippers were inside the shoe locker for your use. If you got an odd-numbered locker, not to worry, there were 2 rows of shoe cabinets/lockers for your to put your shoes near the entrance, all shoe lockers did not come with locks. 1 big and 1 small towel each would be provided in the clothes locker, so that was good - no need to bring your own towel(s). There was a dressing room with 2-in-1 body & hand lotion, tissues, hair-dryers and combs for your use, the toilet was at the other end with 2 urinals and 2 cubicles. I liked that there was an attendant checking the locker area (obviously also the hot spring area) - no mobiles allowed after you were dressed/undressed - saw him telling people to keep for privacy reason, good job! Haha. The Place/Experience The hot spring was on the basement level, after you undressed and all (at level one), would need to walk down a flight of stairs down to the hot spring area. There was one hot pool (around 42 degrees Celsius), one jacuzzi pool (around 37 degrees Celsius), one small squarish cold pool (around 21 degree Celsius), one dry sauna and one hot steam room. There was another toilet here with 2 urinals and 1 cubicle. A couple of tables/chairs and deck chairs lying around for your use. The hot pool and jacuzzi pool was rectangular in shape and they were about the same size. The jacuzzi was big enough to have about 30 people in there (considering seated shoulder-to-shoulder), of course, I like the jacuzzi pool more if you know what I like, haha. Unlike 'Shan-Yue', there was no rooftop pool, only one level of pools. There was a row of shelves (opposite the wash basin - between the dry sauna & steam room) for you to put towels/water bottles/paper cups (water dispenser/refill was nearer the dry sauna end). There were also some hooks around the wooden planks for you to hang your towel before going into the pool. For showers, on one side, there were 4 seated showers and 7 standing showers; on the other side, there were also 4 seated showers but 8 standing showers (total 8 seated showers and 15 standing showers). Standing showers had glass doors with middle section frosted for modesty covering? Haha. [2-in-1 shower & shampoo gel provided] Not a lot of people when I reached during the late afternoon (less than 10) and mostly matured men up till 50s/60s. More people came (including some younger ones) after around 6.30pm, there were around 20+ people. Since there was no one I knew and I knew nobody there, I walked nonchalantly around the place without covering myself after putting my small towel on the provided shelves, the feeling was liberal and definitely great (and saw everyone alike in the hot spring area - all kind of 'birds' and sizes), haha. Definitely noticed quite a few roaming eyes, but no action - not sure if it was 'too early' or it was a weekday. It was pretty obvious that when this particular guy was showering at the seated shower, his head was not focusing on his shower but kept looking around those who walked past him, really was 此地无银三百两, haha. More pictures about this place at its website (near bottom of the page), though the orientation of the pools looked different - possibly the women section (here). Personal opinion Some positive aspects for 'Beitou Hot Springs Resort': Easily accessed by train No need to bring own towel(s) or coins for locker Changing room is dry with air-con (so it could be cold eh) Not so positive ones for 'Beitou Hot Springs Resort': Most expensive for admission thus far (but there was light snack provided) Much lesser 'action' (maybe it was a weekday) Didn't see any action, or it could be taking place when I wasn't at the spot at the instant, haha. Based on what I had seen, there were a few possible areas for action: Steam room - when the steam came on, and if you were seated at the inner most end, it was the hottest (and you could get burnt if you weren't careful). But it was also at this moment when the steam came on that made the area 'nearly invisible to anyone', couldn't see anyone maybe 2 seats/people away eh. So the steam room seemed like the most 'happening place' though I saw none that day. Seated shower - like our own Yunomori onsen style, could be an area for action but too open as anyone could walk by + behind the seated showers were all the standing showers, so unless you wanna put a show for those standing showers to see, haha. (unlike 'Shan-Yue', the shower cubicle could have a few people inside for fun, with its glass door fully frosted if I didn't remember wrongly) Jacuzzi pool - as the bubbles were on, there could be hands near by underwater exploring around when it was crowded with people? When I was leaving slightly past 8pm, one hot looking guy just came (and that's less than 2 hours usage for that price eh, since it would be closed at 10pm), too bad I'm all dressed up leaving when he arrived, oh well... *sigh* Well, if any of you have the chance to go on the weekend, do share your experiences eh.
