Getting to WuLai66

Based solely on train (from XiMen) & bus ride, the time taken was about 23 & 27 minutes respectively, excluding waiting time. I think it was easier to walk as compared to ChuanTang or HuangChi, as both needed to climb up and down the hill to reach the bus stop (unless you take cab/uber).

 

First, take the train to the end point - XinDian station (新店, green line). There was only one exit point (either left or right, centre was where the escalators were), take the right exit gantry and walk straight ahead to walk down a few steps and turn right. The bus stop was right after the sharp turn, and wait for service number 849 (15-20 minutes interval). There was only one queue line for 849 (look at the floor markings), although there were other service numbers, they didn't have a queue line. Take the bus all the way till the end - WuLai terminal bus station.

[yes, do note that the last bus leaves at 2140, unless you take cab/uber eh]

 

From the terminal station, it was about 5 minutes walk, just 'straight, turn right at Family Mart, straight' - the hot spring 'shop' was on the right side of the shophouses. You may refer to my amateur video below for reference:

Admission price

I reached before 5pm, so I paid NT$200 cash (didn't ask if they accept card payment), I'm not sure if there's a new price structure in December eh, see below:

 

You might wanna add them as friends through Line Messenger, so that they could give you update(s) of the place - the QR quote is at the bottom of the picture (this picture was sent to me through Line as well).

 

What to bring

1) Own towel (similar to ChuanTang/ HuangChi)

2) Water bottle (any size, I didn't see any more paper cups) - good thing was you could refill like our Yunomori Onsen (no need to worry you brought not enough water for hydration)

 

I was glad that there is no need to use two NT$10 coins for locker, they would issue you a number tagged locker key, but not as high-tech as our Yunomori Onsen eh, haha.

[I saw only 40 lockers, 2 of them looked spoilt, so maybe maximum they could take in would be 38 guests]

 

The Place

Ground floor was actually a dinning place - same cash counter, but there was a rainbow flag at the counter. The staff said must take the lift to the rooftop (level 4, but button was "R"), cannot walk up the stairs.

 

Once the lift opened, first thing would be the same - take off your shoes and put it in the shoe shelves. Next would be the locker area where you undress (same as ChuanTang/ HuangChi). There were only 3 shower points (with shower gel and shampoo) and 1 toilet.

 

While there were wooden planks surrounded the rooftop (with a roof, which was good so that we didn't need to worry about the rain) to 'cover' the place, there were gaps in between the planks. However, at the opposite side of the hill, there were some houses, those with binoculars could still look into the place and see everything literally eh, haha.

 

As described in some posts above, there were 2 hot pools (nearest was 41 and furthest was 43.5 Degree Celsius) with one small cold pool in the middle. However the actual temperatures between the 2 pools could 'switch' by looking at the temperature indicator - the hotter one could be come less hot and vice versa. Behind the cold pool was a spa pool (with doors) where the water hose spray onto you. A small dry sauna (wooden door) was beside the nearest hot pool, and the steam room (as well as a smoking room) needs you to walk down another level. The steam room should be able to accommodate about 12-15 people? Didn't explore the smoking room of course, since I don't smoke.

[Yes, steam room was where the most of the actions took place, some people really make sure you heard them well when they used their "吸星大法"来吸尽你的"精华" 🤭. Some didn't even stop when people walked in, thus far you could see hand and mouth actions in the steam room eh.]

 

Personal opinion

WuLai66 does not have that many pools as HuangChi, or massage service as ChuanTang/ HuangChi, but there was 'freedom' from being constantly checked by the attendant, since I didn't see any attendant checking the place (if there was, probably was to make sure the facilities were in order, like refilling shower gel/ shampoo).

 

WuLai66 is in an old building, you won't get a feel of everything is brand new look eh, though they are 'new' in this area (not sure about this, since it was new to me).

 

Most importantly - there was a rainbow flag at the counter = PLU friendly. I would think this place is easier to go to and more likely than not, it could get crowded once everyone knew about this new place eh...

I booked my hotel in Feb 2026 in Xinbeitou, with the intention to go to Huangchi / Kawayu (plus the area is nice, not as hectic as closer to downtown Taipei).  Wulai is on the far end, but from your direction, it doesn't seem too difficult to get to.  I hope Uber operates in that area, just in case I miss the last bus.

How unfortunate.  Yes, I've read that Kawayu is not longer "friendly".  Jan 2025, I was fed up with the front cashier and the long wait at Huangchi, I went to Kawayu and found it more pleasant.  No shenanigans of course, but overall service was slightly better than Huangchi

Here's another 'exploration' to share, haha.

 

 

Getting to Shan-Yue Hot Spring (山乐温泉)

Based solely on train (from XiMen) ride, the time taken was about 40 minutes, including transfers at the 2 interchange stations (TaiBei CheZhan/台北车站 & BeiTou/北投) - took the train to the end point of XinBeiTou (新北投) station, and walked under 5 minutes and you'll reach Shan-Yue Hot Spring.

 

There were 2 exits at XinBeiTou station, take exit 1 and follow the red arrows to reach Quanyuan Road. There are 3 traffic junctions to cross (see the 3 red numbers on the map below) and I don't think there's any English road name (the Chinese road name was also in red on the map below). Once you see the white vertical signage (see image above the map), walk into the building would be the hotel reception and they would direct you to the public usage reception. Pretty easy eh.

 

 

 

Admission price

Went on a Saturday and had to pay NT$580 for admission (weekdays' price would be NT$500). Found the lady at the counter rather 'unfriendly' though (also a bit impatient as well) and the admission price was more than double of WuLai66, nearly tripled.

 

This place closes at 10pm daily and they would start to clean up at 9.30pm (a written/printed Chinese signage on the wall), so you won't missed the last train back to town (anyway, last train would be at nearly 12am).

 

 

What to bring

Water bottle (any size, they did provide paper cups, but in case the cups ran out) - good thing was you could refill water for hydration. [also can be treated as 'nothing to bring']

 

Same as WuLai66, there is no need to use two NT$10 coins for locker, they would issue you a number tagged locker key - for both shoe 'locker' and clothes locker of the same number. However, the counter lady was not clear and didn't tell me the shoe 'locker' cannot/no need to lock (the key won't work anyway), so needed to go down to check again. The changing room was more 'classy' as the floor was fully carpeted and there were a total of 58 lockers.

 

1 big and 1 small towel each would be provided in the clothes locker, so that was good - no need to bring your own towel(s).

 

 

The Place

The hot spring was on the third level, after you undressed and all, would need to walk through 2 doors (there was a weighing scale in between the doors) - to the right would be a dry sauna room and a cold room (yes, you read correctly, instead of a steam room, there was a cold room and there was no steam room at all). The cold room looked like a steam room except that it was cold, haha.

 

To the left would be 1 small cold pool and 1 large hot pool, with a row of shelves (opposite the pools) for you to put towels/water bottles/paper cups (water cooler/refill was right at the door). Further in were 4 showers with glass doors and 1 toilet with 2 wash basins at the other corner. And 3 more low showers (without doors) located at the furthest end, total 7 seven shower points.

 

Upper level, roof top, was another hotter pool, with 4 sundeck chairs and 2 tables (each had 3 chair to the table). Part of the 'roof' was like plastic panel and the rest was made of wood, including the 'walls' - wooden planks with gaps, similar to WuLai66.

[there was no temperature indicators for all the pools, so didn't know how hot/cold were the pools]

 

Not a lot of people, but more younger ones came after 7pm, and a few came in pairs (either friends or boyfriend). Strangely, I thought Taiwanese were quite open to nudity, but those younger ones that came mostly were either cupping the privates with their hands or used towels to cover, which I did find it 'weird'. Anyway, I just observed and did 'what the Romans do', haha.

Personal opinion

Both Shan-Yue & WuLai66 have similar number of pools (not as many pools as HuangChi).

 

So some positive aspects for Shan-Yue:

• Easily accessed by train
• No need to bring own towel(s) or coins for locker
• Changing room is dry (carpeted)

 

Not so positive ones for Shan-Yue:

• More expensive for admission
• No steam room
• Less 'action'

 

Only saw 2 'actions' that took place - one in the shower with door and the other was in the hot pool at level 3. The shower with door was 2 guys in the shower (it was quite big, could easily fit 3-5 people, or more), one went in after the other, and the rest would be up to your imagination, since it was done 'behind closed door', haha. As for the other 'action', I so happened to be sitting nearby, seeing one guy jerking the other person (all underwater of course), water was not crystal clear but could see the 'usual movement' eh.

I’ve never had any cruising experience in a male dorm before.

kiwi - quite a lot of the activities happen in the showers, very late at night

otherwise you may need to make contact via the apps

if lucky it is possible to find someone staying in the same room too

 

mini inn will be more happening, i am sure.

i hope you have already requested for a gay friendly dorm

--  dress down. walk around in just your underwear, or if inside the dorm, be naked

--  leave the curtain open

-- dont cover everything with blanket

-- can also make contact with apps, also useful to gain access to different dorms, cos they have quite a number of dorms

Good choice. I have stayed in 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. I found 4th to be the most happening.

Good planning ahead of time for your travel plan. Miniinn booking is usually open about 2-3months before. It is possible to book once it is opened for booking for your travel dates. Check back diligently if you really want to experience the excitement there. But do note the three places you mentioned here are all in different cities. Make sure you are clear where you want to go...

Quick update from my Taichung & Taipei trip 🇹🇼

 

After landing at Taoyuan Airport, I took the train straight to Taichung and stayed at Kiwi Express Hotel Brunch II. I’ve stayed in hostels in Taiwan many times before, but this was my first time really noticing the unique vibe of a male dorm. 

 

When I arrived, everything felt very normal — guys sitting around, scrolling on their phones, not really talking to each other. On the surface, it felt quiet and almost boring, but at the same time, there was this unspoken tension in the air that I couldn’t quite explain.

 

That night, I took a shower around 10 PM and went to bed early. Around midnight, I woke up and walked to the bathroom, and that’s when I noticed things were a bit different from what I was used to. Some guys were walking around very casually, clearly comfortable with the space. Since I had never experienced this kind of environment before, I didn’t really know how to react, so I just went back to bed. Later on, when I checked apps like Hornet and Grindr, I realized many of the same guys were actually staying there. That’s when it all started to make sense.

 

On my second day, I went to Explore Mars Sauna in Taichung. The entrance fee 300 TWD for 14 hrs., which makes it feel less rushed. The place looks a bit old, but it’s still clean and well-maintained. I went there in the late afternoon, and the crowd was mostly young guys. Everyone was surprisingly friendly, smiling, and very open. As the evening went on, the age range shifted a bit, but the atmosphere stayed relaxed and welcoming. Since it’s open 24 hours, people came and went at all hours, and it felt like a space where everyone could just be themselves. It was definitely one of the highlights of my time in Taichung.

 

Later that night, back at the hostel, I showered naked in the inner shower area and didn’t lock the door. A fit young guy opened the door slightly, so I waved him in. We helped each other out a bit, and it was really nice. After that, I went back to sleep.

 

Around 4 AM, the guy in the bed next to mine came back. He slept naked and didn’t close the curtain. I went over and gave him a blowjob. I wanted more kissing and cuddling, but we had to stop because other people started waking up. 😫

Then I took the train back to Taipei and stayed at Miniinn. That night, there were young guys walking around everywhere. Some of them waved me into my capsule, and yeah… things happened. I fell asleep with the sounds of beds moving and people moaning around me. Of course, not everyone chose me — some didn’t, probably because I didn’t look as young as them.

 

On the second night (Friday), after a full day out, I was packing my bag at the locker area when a teenage-looking guy started chatting with me. Turned out we were on the same floor, so we make out for a while before going our separate ways.

 

That night was strange — the 4th floor was super quiet. Most guests were 40+, and the younger guys were barely around. I guess they went out partying and came back late.
 

Anyways I saw a young guy I didn’t know walking up to the 4th floor, so I asked if he stayed there. He said nope, he was on the 3rd floor — and yeah, stuff was happening there too, just not as much.

 

 I later found out that at this hotel, you can actually touch someone who’s sleeping, and if they don’t reject you, you can take things further. But I’m not very confident, so I rarely make the first move. That night ended quietly.

 

On Saturday morning, while I was getting dressed and ready to leave, the guy in the bed next to mine — someone I’d seen for two nights but never talked to — peeked out and looked at me. I’d seen him fooling around with a younger guy before, so I assumed he was a top, and since I’m also a top, we never talked. But that morning, I gathered my courage and walked over. We ended up kissing, cuddling, and having sex. It was really good — he was an amazing bottom.

 

For the next two nights, I moved to a regular hotel but still went to Hans Sauna, which has been renovated. I’d been there years ago before COVID, and the old place was terrible, but now it’s really good. People were friendly and very open to sex, especially in the dark room. Taiwanese guys are really good bottoms — no hesitation like I sometimes see with Thai guys.

 

This trip made me realize that I’m actually very turned on by slightly chubby, bear-type bottoms rather than skinny ones. I had so much fun here and honestly can’t wait to come back. Haha 😁

PS . I’ve been to Soi 13 before, and honestly, I wasn’t impressed at all. Compared to Aniki Wow (which is already closed), it just didn’t hit the same for me.

Only Fri & Sat nights that are hard to get as many locals from other cities come to Taipei. Weekdays usually got a lot of vacancy.

Thanks Murano for the recommendation.  I was thinking of a Hyatt or a Marriott hotel with large and busy lobby so I can bring back my assets without being noticed.  At the Capella, they might say hello and bow their heads and open doors while addressing me by my last name lol.

came back from a short 4D3N trip yesterday... during this trip, tried a few home-based massages but will list down one here that I would recommend all of you to try and support.

Yeah Soi 13 is now a rip off unless you are so despo. If you are not really hot than maybe Hans will be a better choice. If you are hunk AF then XL club will be better. Either cost less than 50% of Soi 13.

If your intention is to have fun there, then u must be young, gd looking and fit. Else you will be sorely disappointed.

The increase actually started around January 2025.

 

Locals get to pay discounted rates between 6.30-7.30pm. I find that the crowd is thin after 9 plus on Mon-Thu
