Community Court Judge Mathew Joseph said the case was also a lesson for young people who go online and download mobile applications, and find themselves ensnared by people like Chock Soon Seng. He said the court found the 37-year-old's offences very disturbing and his conduct deplorable. Chock, who faced five charges, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse and one of criminal intimidation at his flat in Hougang Avenue 8 in February and March this year. The court heard that the victim downloaded a mobile application, Jack'd, on his cellphone.. After he became a member, Chock sent him a message and found out that the student was turning 15 this year. While chatting, Chock asked him if he wanted to try kissing and sex, but the victim said he was not ready. Later, the teen went to Chock's home in February. Chock took him to his bedroom where he removed the boy's clothes and took pictures of him on his iPad. Chock next asked the victim to touch his body but the teen said he did not know how to and was uncomfortable doing it. He carried the victim onto the bed and asked him to perform oral sex on him. The two took turns performing oral sex on each other.After the victim had gone home, he realised felt that what he had done was wrong, and the sexual acts were not right and "disgusting". Two weeks later, he ignored Chock's text message to meet up. Chock threatened the victim on March 21, saying that he would post his naked pictures to his friends if he did not meet him. He also said he would wait for the victim outside his house. The victim felt alarmed and decided to inform his family members. He made a police report the next day. Deputy Public Prosecutor James Chew highlighted aggravating factors, saying the offences were serious and disturbing and warranted a stiff sentence to protect the public, especially young victims that could be preyed on. Chock had been jailed for 10 months in 2010 for two counts of attempted exploitation of a child. He was a school teacher at the time. His brother got to know Mr Tan at the pharmacy where the latter worked when he was buying medicine there, said Mr Yeo.In his statement of claim, Mr Tan said he had employed Yeo as a kitchen helper from 1993 and that the latter had begun living with him because he had little money. In 2007, Yeo decided he wanted to buy a flat for himself and sought financial help from Mr Tan. However, Yeo was still unable to raise enough funds. In 2009, Yeo bought the HDB flat in Hougang for about S$345,000, with at least S$231,000 from Mr Tan. There is no legal basis for Tan to be able to claim the profits from the sale of the flat because Tan does not (and cannot) have any proprietary interest in the HDB flat. Foo Desmond Posted December 19, 2014 Report Share Posted December 19, 2014 err the point is even if yeo agreed with tan for tan to own an interest in the flat, the agreement has no effect because there can be no trust (i.e. no creation of beneficial interest) in the property for a third party (S51(8), (9), and (10) of the HDB Act). So there is no basis for tan to claim beyond the sum he advanced to yeo and claim the profit from the sale of the flat (which must be based on a beneficial interest in the flat). The videos had been meticulously catalogued with the boys' names, ages and year he met them.From the footage, the police managed to trace the 31 victims. Some boys, however, could not be identified.There were also videos involving at least 14 other boys made during his annual visits to Malaysia.Yesterday, with his mother, two younger siblings and aunt in the public gallery, Yap pleaded guilty to 12 charges of sexual penetration of a minor.Another 63 charges of sexual penetration of a minor and one of procuring a child to commit an indecent act will be taken into consideration when he is sentenced at a later date.The prosecution is seeking a minimum 30-year jail term, and 24 strokes of the cane.The youthful-looking Yap pleaded to the court for mercy."I am really, really sorry towards all the victims and their family... The court heard that the teen, Naveenthiran Thevathas, befriended Kanthimathi Ramachandran Sreedhar, a 30 year-old man from India in June last year through the mobile phone application Grindr. Naveenthiran agreed to meet Kanthimathi at the latter's home, a rented bedroom in Woodlands, to engage in sexual activities. But before their meeting, Naveenthiran joined two of his friends, Kishor Ramesh, 22, and Vinod Velasamy, 20, at a coffee shop. There, Naveenthiran hatched a plan to extort money from Kanthimathi. He would proceed to have sex with Kanthimathi and take a video while doing so. He would then send a text message to his two friends who would then show up at the flat, claiming to be Naveenthiran's elder brothers. They would tell Kanthimathi that their supposed brother was underaged and would report the matter to the police unless Kanthimathi paid them some money.Both of Naveenthiran's friends agreed to the plan. The duo later demanded $10,000 from Kanthimathi. Kanthimathi, who said he did not have the amount with him, surrendered two foreign bank debit cards, a black Lenovo tablet and cash amounting to $150 and 6,000 Indian Rupees. Naveenthiran's urine sample, taken after he was arrested two days after the extortion, also tested positive for methamphetamine, commonly known as 'Ice'.
