The one you have suggested is very tempting as it does not restrict your swimming movements. You can use it when you go sun tanning at the beach. Furthermore, you do not want to be ask to leave by the life guards. though some may be cute and muscular. 😁

For public pool, I just go with black conservative trunks. No need to attract more attention than necessary.

But on holidays, or private pools, tend to go with more sporty or nicer cuts.

No, not the brand, but the cut / shape of the swimwear. 
 

i do think the speedo brand swimwearvr of higher quality material, especially the infinitex range which is meant 2 b chlorine resistant etc.

Oh, yah all my swimwear are trunk cuts. I know speedo also has cut variations, 3, 5, 9 inch cuts.

Mine are usually 5 inch, thicker cuts that are more conservative.

 

Holiday cuts are less conservative, haha.

I think Arena has a good balance of conservative and cheeky design.

From far looks like normal trunks, but close up, can see through the mesh see the butt crack haha.

Maybe not skimpy, but more stylish or sporty looking. Used to go for more colourful, but even that I toned down over time.

Not sure my face or what, when I am in bright colors, tend to get those old ang moh coming. MB vibes maybe. So I stopped wearing.

 

For past year, I have been getting from ASOS, like these two below. Suitable for lounging pool side - look normal from far but interesting details up close.
