I know a good yoga instructor in the north area (eg. Woodlands, Marsiling, Admiralty, Sembawang)

He teaches only the basic for beginners, but the best thing is, he can travel and the sessions are held at the comfort of your own home!

All you need is a yoga mat at home.

I had a few sessions with him and he is REALLY knowledgeable. Also very patient, gentle and friendly.

Quite a handsome gentleman, but my definition of 'handsome' may not be the same as yours.

I'm helping him find students here:

One-to-one Basic Yoga

Thursdays and Fridays evenings 8pm to 10pm

$40 for a 2 hr-session (which is $20/hr)

Minimum 2-hr per session

Anyone interested to learn basic YOGA may PM me.

I always knew yoga benefitted me but did not know specifically how. I felt calmer and more aware of people's feelings. Plus can develop a hot body from asana practice, hehe!

Absolutely. You can modify poses accordingly.

I've been going to Freedom Yoga (@ HengDa Building, Cecil Street) for past few months. Their prices not bad. Check them out here: http://www.freedomyoga.sg

I like the instructors 'cause they're younger (but have all gone through certification and the number of hours) and their class sizes are slightly smaller (only because they're a new studio). They also have a 30 minute express class for lunch time, perfect if you're in the CBD.

Freedom Yoga is a nice airy place.  I like the instructors June and Princess.

What's the best yoga mat brand on the market you would recommend?

Lululemon, Manduka, Liforme, Madana.

Whatever it is, don't buy the Guardian or Watson's yoga mat.

There is no age limit for practicing stretching, and in reality we need it more the older we get.

Stretching not only does not damage the joints, but it helps them.

It is hard to acquire a likeness for yoga, since stretching is uncomfortable,

unless we realize that the benefits outweigh the efforts,

and this takes a good while, like half a year of doing it.

Bikram is very hot inside. The temperature can be quite challenging for newbie. But I love the sensation after he 90minbut damn shag. :D

Yes, but liked u mentioned the sensation after that

and the hit help to relax the joints and muscles for flexibility later, it s just like using a sauna to lose water

Many claimed yoga is impactless to fats shedding, which many of us disagree (all shared above)

What's a good yoga studio to invest in? Been to Real Yoga but it was expensive.

Pure is even pricier, but it is the best on account of facilities and range of classes.

Btw, been learning hatha yoga in gym until the gym suddenly changes many classes to hot yoga out of sudden. Damn turned off.

Seriously, I can't appreciate the fun of feeling sweat constantly rolling down your forehead and cheeks when you're doing tree pose.

Lately I noticed there are many small/boutique yoga centres in Singapore.

These centres are taught by relative young yogis in general, although there could be 1-2 senior yogi.

Whilst small studios are cosy and easier for teachers to track each student’s progress, the turnover of beginners means it’s hard to progressively make the classes more challenging. Also, don’t forget what happened to that hot yoga place that went bust. I remember it was so popular back when it started cos it was one of the few hot yoga specialists.

There are only 2-3 bikrsm yoga centres in Singapore. The one you mentioned is BYCH, I believe. The Taiwanese lady boss went back to Taiwan to treat her illness. I heard later that someone kinda took over the business but not sure if it’s still in operation today.

@bluefish20008: yeah I’m also not really a fan of hot yoga. Even attending regular yoga lesson, I am sweating like a horse. Lol.

@-Ignored-: oops. Corrected my typo. Yes. Sweating. Haha

The heat and sweat is intended to increase the stress and distraction on the practitioner, and hence test his ability to tune that out by entering into a meditative state. Just keep going at it and you’ll find the calm eventually. Best of luck! Namaste.

Yes yes. The heat will only get to you when you are new. Once you get used to it, it’s ok. I find that it’s more comfortable going topless for hot yoga. Just my personal preference.

Yes, topless makes it easier for your body to cool. Plus if you partner the hotbod next to you, very sexy.

Unfortunately, not many men at the yoga center I attend classes do that. Only at Bikram class I see some men doing that.

Usually it’s the angmos who go shirtless. Some are hot but even the flabby ones do. Asian guys are more shy and tend not to go shirtless, and of those who do, many are not local. That kinda distraction will be an additional test of your mind to focus on the breathing instead of getting an erection, lol!
