I’m planning to visit Taiwan in Dec. Can someone who have visited advise on the admin requirements, what is allowed/not allowed for tourists when visiting Taiwan? Don’t understand the 0+7 rules.

I got this from a friend (credit to John Teoh) who seems to be an expert on everything Taiwan:

https://www.cdc.gov.tw/ArrivalQuarantine/index.html?lang=en-US

Upon arrival in Taipei airport the immigration people will give you four Rapid Antigen Test kits. On day 0, arrival day you have do a self test and get a negative result in your hotel room before you can go out. Do this every 2 days before you go outside. Hope this helps

I heard the Hans spa is at a new location which was opened a few months ago. It should be interesting to check out.

And thanks for the info on the bar scene as well.

Just returned. :)

putting it in bullet points for easy reading

- you get free panbio art kits x4 upon arrival

- you’re told to test yourself and monitor your condition, but no one is monitoring you and you don’t have to submit to any authorities your art test results… therefore I left my hotel 10 mins after testing myself negative (it’s not against the law)

- visited chance and commander d in xmd, commander d has SM (mainly tying up guys) on both nights I went

- chance was chill, bartenders extremely friendly (bearish/cute) and gave loads of free shots on both nights I went

- visited Hans men spa at wan nian building. too bright for my liking. has a sauna and a steam room, guys are extremely varied in type but mainly in avg shape. place is definitely clean and new but i didn’t enjoy myself - 400 baht

- visited Soi 13, 800 baht for 16 hours entry, can re enter once but must be within 4 hours of your departure. dark, cruisy, has steam room, sauna, cold and hot tub, loads of rooms

- visit both places from 6-10pm, where it’s busiest

- Taiwanese are reserved, but once they know you they really open up to you. Had one of my best experiences at commander d, met a Mongolian, American and a few Taiwanese. Owner also gave us free drinks.

- there’s pride this weekend, getting a flight in to Taiwan is easy now. I flew Starlux, return tickets are cheaper than BKK return tickets on budget airlines (don’t even need to talk about SQ). To flight was 5 hours under as it’s against monsoon wind but return flight was 4 hours.
- Starlux provides full service entertainment with delicious meals, on board entertainment and new beautiful aircraft (Plus male attendants are cute heheh)

- stay in xmd, all the action (gay) can be found there except Soi 13.. hope this helps!

Thank for your review.  It answered all the questions I had wanted to ask.

Hi nice people of BW, I will be heading to Taipei next week and I have never frequent their sauna/ bar before. Will it be awkward for one person to walk in.?

certainly not! Taiwanese are friendly.. you’ll enjoy yourself at soi13 I believe.

The owner of commander D is friendly; you can also sit at the bar and chat with others who could be on their own. Or chat up a local buddy on app before you head down if you prefer some company! :)

I was solo at both Commander D and Hunt this past Saturday. At Commander D, it was a Yukata night - you'd need to wear a very loose Yukata without any pants or underwear. This increased the degree of mingling within the bar. I sat at the bar and the bartender/owner noticed me while I was changing to the Yukata and he was really friendly. He introduced me to a few people at the bar and we chat and needless to say our hands were all over under the Japanese dress grabbing the woods LOL. The special event of the night was they had a really handsome model that would strip to his undies and they'd place pieces of sushi on his thick thighs or between the thighs right next to his crotch and allow the brave customers to eat the maki without using the hands. The most exciting thing was that the model was sitting on the bar spreading his legs right where I was. It was a treat for me and plus more people were lining up to get a chance for the special sushi. I got to play with a few customers who were exploring my tool at the bar while waiting for their turn. The darkroom in the rear was open and I went there for some exciting play as well.

The experience at Hunt is still to come.

Wow! Thanks for sharing!

Will be in Taipei tomorrow and looking forward to visit all the saunas. Guess Commander D, Hunt and Soi 13 are the popular saunas with younger crowd?

Following that fun time at Commander D, I ventured to Hunt to meet my Taiwanese friend. I arrived at the tail end of the night, and the place started to thin out, which I preferred (Hunt has this hazardous location where it's one level underground with only one entrance/exit that I was aware of. This scares me somewhat that so many people are packed inside and, god forbid, if there's a need to evacuate the space.)

I changed to the themed dress, which is no dress at all - stripped naked. Given a towel as the only piece I could hold on to, I went down to meet the friend and got a drink which comes with the entrance fee. A big buff guy next to us gave us a big smile. I took the opportunity to introduce ourselves and asked jokingly if he could find me a date. He smiled, grabbed my hand, walked around, and started introducing me to 4 or 5 guys. I gave each of them a hug and tug feeling their tool and they mine LOL. The crowd was so friendly. In the end, I had a great night at Hunt.

So if you find yourself at a bar in Taipei, just be forward and initiate the conversation. Most of the time, you will make new friends and enjoy the city.

Am I right to assume we can't stay in G S Hotel or Space Inn as they have shared toilets which does not comply with the rules.

https://sg.trip.com/hotels/-hotel-detail-7767033/gs-hotel/

Currently all rooms in our hotels are with shared bathroom. We are not allowed to accommodate 7-day self-initiated prevention travelers. According to policy, 7-day self-initiated prevention policy for arrivals should stay at home or a residence of a friend or family member or a hotel room that meets the requirement of "one person per room" (with a private bathroom) in the self-initiated prevention period.[17 Oct 2022 - 30 Jun 2023]

I was in Taipei a few weeks back, for about a week, and I did get the chance of checking out some of the massage places. I really enjoy this forum so I thought of doing this short report, for what it’s worth.

Arrival / Covid requirements

Super easy and smooth. You need to be double vaccinated, of couse, and the airline will check that upon check-in. But for the rest.. that’s it. They give you a test kits once you land in Taipei, and ask you to test yourself regularly. Super easy.

Gongfu (Max)

I had tried Royal several times in the past (before Covid), but never tried their Gongfu outlet. I have always liked the general vibe of Royal. The masseurs are nice, never pushy and very well trained. I booked Max via the website and they called me back about an hour later to confirm. Easy - all done in English.

Max turned out to be just like his photo on the website, maybe a bit chunkier. Very nice guy, quite charming I have to day. He’s pretty short but has a lot of strength. He have me a nice deep tissue massage for the first 45 min or so, and proceeded with a B2B. I think that’s their standard procedure. The deep tissue was really professionally and nicely done - exactly what I needed after the flight from Singapore. The B2B was what you expect it to be. Very sensual. I believe Max and I had a good connection. It didn’t feel robotic or anything like that, and we showered together at the end. I had a really nice time. And I would very much recommend Gongfu and Max to anyone visiting Taipei.

I should add that the Gongfu facilities are really nice! Private and super clear, with shower in the room.

It was my best experience of the trip. I was sorry to read that they found themselves raided recently. For what it’s worth, I always found them to have the best gay spa operations in the country. Pretty unfair that law enforcement is on their back, to be honest. I hope they’ll be able to continue operating.

Muddan (Nick)

I contacted Muddan on Line to book an outcall massage with Nick at my hotel. I will therefore be unable to comment on their facilities since I had the massage at my hotel.

Booking process was all done via line - quick and easy. I met Nick the next day in my hotel lobby. He was on time.

I found Nick super cute on the website photo - and, admittedly, that’s why I booked him. While he’s very cute in person too, I suspect his profile photos are photoshopped. Not a big deal but always a bit disappointing.

The sequence was the same: 45 min thai style « dry » massage and B2B for the rest. Muddan is a fine operations (I had tried it before), but their team’s massage skills are, say, average. Not bad. Just average. Probably less training than Gongfu/Royal. So the Thai-style deep tissue was, say, 7 out of 10, in my modest opinion.

The B2B part was nice and sensual. Nick certainly didn’t short-change me with time, quite the opposite! He took his time - which is always nice - and I believe the whole thing lasted almost 2 hours, when I had only booked him for 90 min.

So all in all a good experience. I would recommend it too.

GPlus (Alex)

GPlus has been around for 3 years or so, but I always had reservations about using them. They run a bit of a strange operation. They have a spa business - as well as a gay porn production one! That blurs the line, somewhat. And I was afraid it would just be a prostitution cover. But I decided to give it a try.

Same process: outcall massage booked through Line, in English. Easy, polite, and responsive. All good! Alex was on time and I met him downstairs in my hotel’s lobby.

Well, I was proven wrong: it’s legit! I had a great time! Alex’s looks are like on the website (though they still photoshop…).

Similar style: deep-tissue followed by B2B. For the deep tissue, Alex’s skills are quite unique. He is super strong. That’s not for the light hearted, believe me. He does apply A LOT of pressure. I did ask him to go lighter on me, which he did, but it remained pretty strong. Great massage - but be forewarned 🙂 The B2B was nicely done. The oil he used smelled really good! But I forgot to ask what sent that was.

So, to summarize: great experience!!! What I liked, also, was that Alex is a really bright guy. Very curious and super smart. We talked about Taiwan, politics, etc. (After the massage, obviouly). He speaks good English and was curious about Singapore too. I know that’s not what we ask from a masseur, necessarily, but it made the whole experience really good, and special.

GPlus (Henry)

Since my first experience was great, I had another go at GPlus, still for an outcall, on my last day. Alex was unavailable so I went for Henry.

Henry is a bit of a local celebrity in Taiwan’s vibrant local gay porn scene, in case you’re not aware. So I was curious to see how it would go.

Henry looks just like his profile picture (and movies…). He is a charming guy. Really. Super sweet, gentle and eager to please. His English is poor, but, between his English and my even more broken Mandarin, we managed to have a bit of a convo too.

His deep-tissue is excellent. Almost as good as Max’ at Gongfu. More gentle than Alex without being too soft. A bit more sensual too, without compromising on the massage’s quality. And the B2B was great.

I had an amazing experience with Henry. It’s hard to describe but I really felt we liked each other and were comfortable with each other. It may sound a bit weird but that’s the way I felt. The whole thing felt very… personal. I know this is highly subjective and masseur/massaged chemistry plays a role. And we had that. I would highly recommend Henry (except that I’d like to keep it to myself :-))

I hope you guys found this - not so short after all - field report useful. And remember: treat them with respect and tip those guys handsomely.

Hi, just a few qns:

For the arrival/covid requirements, how will they check your vaccination status? Do u have to show them some proof or what? Also which airline will check? Isit upon departure from sg or arrival in tw?

Are we allowed to stay with someone else in the same room, or it is strictly 1 person 1 room policy?

Thx!

When u check-in online (upload your certificate) or at Changi Airport check-in counter you have to show your vaccination certificate. No vaccination certificate then no boarding pass for you.

They don't care if you share an accomodation with another person. Even the hotel staff don't care whether you did your ART test before heading out of the hotel.

Mm.. maybe tis is previous practice already.. just arrive Taipei today.. airport given me a box of ART and ask me check myself.. no need show anything.. even during boarding. In conclusion, no check on Covid related is required.

Whoa, so surprised to read this. Was just there on the 4th and then tried DB spa on the 7th.

From past experience, there is no guarantee for sex. Mostly depends on your chemistry with the masseur I think.

Royal was still nice but some procedures are different now, they leave you to get undressed and shower first. Now they don't help to dry you, only got help fo dry my hair.

Dean (Royal)

Wanted to book another one but he was unavailable so I went with Dean instead.

He is super strong. On the brink of my tolerance massage wise but after the long flight and walking around the whole day, it was good. Started out as proper massage before the occasional brushes of his finger on my hole when massaging. We both enjoyed the teasing. When it came to oil massage, he was still in his briefs but he let me have a touch when standing near me. During the handjob part he finally stripped, got hard and 😏.

Caught me off guard but overall nice experience.

Massage 9, Service 8.5

Mark (DB)

DB was empty when I arrived and also harder to find. The massage rooms are not as nice as Royal, only double courtains as door and the corner shower felt a bit clunky. Same procedure as Royal, I went with Mark since he looks the most like DB.

Overall nice guy and very polite. During the massage my hands ended up on his upper calves a lot, very nice muscles.

Downside was the cool but later cold aircon which I think he changed on purpose cause he adjusted the temperature several times during the massage and it got colder. The chair on wheels for him to sit down to massage was very noisy and irritating, they should throw it away.

Massage felt solid but a bit lacking with the accuracy, a bit sloppy at times but totally on spot at other times. During the handjob, he directly let me hold him, very well endowed. Too bad he didn't came or used his thick tool.

Afterward the shower he directly escorted me out, nobody at the reception. We talked a bit, pleasant and quite good English.

Massage 9, Service 8

Hope that they will be able to sort things out and continue their operation in the future.

Downside was the cool but later cold aircon which I think he changed on purpose cause he adjusted the temperature several times during the massage and it only got colder. The chair on wheels for him to sit down to massage was very noisy and irritating.

Massage felt solid but a bit lacking with the accuracy, a bit sloppy at times but totally on spot at other times. During the handjob, he directly let me hold him, very well endowed.

Afterwards he directly escorted me out, nobody at the reception.

Massage 9, Service 8

Hope that they will be able to sort things out and continue their operation in the future.

Is DBspa same location as Royal?
