When that would happen is still unknown. If that happens before the new Toa Payoh Sports Hub is opened, then the other pools will even be more crowded. Right now it's insanely packed at Geylang East pool as they close half the competition pool at 7pm for waterpolo training and on some days the entire competition pool can't be used as the other half is also allocated to those people doing water aerobics. They should at least wait for TPY Sports Hub to be up and running before closing down Kallang pool. Currently, that pool, together with Katong and Geylang East pools are absorbing the loads from old TPY. Kallang Basin pool is totally useless to the public. Katong and Geylang East pools are packed to the brim, at times overflow. TPY is not going to be ready in the next 6-7 years (est. 2031?)
