Less crowd is good for swimming. No traffic ‘accident’ in the pool. The only downside is there is less eye candies. Haha. Enjoy it while it lasts.

If less eyecandies means less of the unattractive creeps, I'm all for it! And usually just the absence of such creeps make the pool empty (except if it's during school hols or weekends) and it's really good because there will no traffic accidents and good swimmers tend to stick to their own lanes too. 

 

The thing about having eyecandies is they tend to attract the creeps making the pool crowded and demotivating to see unfit guys just standing at the ends of the pool or in the toilet staring and ogling at other guys like thirsty crocodiles 🤣

i think it's a matter of time for most older pools to be either rejuvenate or revamp / integrated into those multi-story community spaces.  need to make time to at least pay it a homage visit 😉

It’s finally here. Been saying many years. Kind of expected as they do not want to repair the teaching and wading pools area. The other pools at the east or nearby will be more crowded after the closure. 
Spent ma y years swimming here, I am saddened by the news, nevertheless.

Yeah. All the stand-alone pools are in dangerous. Katong, serangoon will be next. 
I dislike the new swimming complex style. I like the old pool design. 
With the news out, I would expect crowd at Kallang Basin to spike from now until 31Aug. I will visit some day to bid farewell to the lifeguard that I know.

The renovated pools are all so boring.

The new feature pools cost a little more so i have yet to step into one. Don't see why i must pay that extra when i only want to lap around. Thankfully i not in the feature pools area. Thou seriously rejuvenated but seems not much improvement and like wasted public funds. Shower heads get damaged easily. Less shower cubicles, when it packed and in a rush, very annoying. Kind of also wished they could do better services from the one day closure for cleaning. The shower cubicles really need some scrubbing or perhaps a power jet spray? There's that ever annoying glitches of the lockers. They don't put up signs at the entrance to alert you ahead so can't used the locker and already in trunks. Bring back the locker with keys. Not everything need to go digital. Ever since they change the entry system, they hire so many staff just sitting outside entrance. 🙃 full of complaints but it relevant feedback from user experiences. 

 

@bluerunner  Oh yes, do visit before the closure. I know that sad feelings, it happened 3 times for me. So bid your farewell and do a proper closure. Lifeguards and you need a happy ending 🤪

In my opinion, serangoon will be safe cos at least it is attached to a stadium.

Original bedok pool also had a stadium but was moved to Heart Beat @ Bedok. So anything is possible. A revamp may be good if the facilities are already very run down. Unsure the reason/s for downsizing the toilet spaces. Not sure if it was meant to address the Lurkers / Cruising issues. Pools can be crowded and the small area already proven to be lacking. I am just waiting for Queenstown to reopen to see how much they had streamlined the previous version. It is after all a place where Water Polo and some National swim team practises besides the divers. So really keeping fingers crossed it's not going to be a dash for shower spaces too. 

 

Also noticed they had removed the notice on "No above 6 year old girls allowed' in the men's room and replaced with a new "Please change in cubicle as it is a common space". Strategically placed right before the entrance unlike the previous which was inside.

When is Queenstown pool reopening? 
That notice of asking people to change in the cubicle is really DUH I must say! 
Daddy who brings his daughter inside men’s changing room and expect men to take cover must really be cock slapped right, left, top, bottom, and center. There is children shower and changing area around. Parents should used that.

if according to plan i think sometime Oct this year. i go check one day to verify if there's any notice put up.

 

some are not bringing the child in to shower, i seen few who bring them in cause they can't leave the daughter alone outside. this girls already shower and changed. they just stand around  or sit on the dry bench (being a lurker, some of us want to be 🤣). don't really know the reason for this new posters appearing at pools. from experiences those who shower naked while the kids are around usually don't mind. seen before how this 40-ish guy just happily towel dry in the buff occassionally 'clowning' with the girl that was stand there watching. the father obviously noticed and didn't mind either. even though i know the father changed in the closed cubicle. likewise i mind so i don't do it in front of her too. options entirely open to individuals, don't really see a need to force it down everyone with a certain direction how someone show act inside.

There really are these type of ppl. Some bring their kids in while changing will keep staring at us.. I ever cruised at Clementi Swimming Complex and there’s this father who changing for his children spotted me then went complain saying I was changing naked making his kids feel uncomfortable lol

You cruising not withstanding but changing naked in a men’s room in front of a kid is acceptable. 
Why that father has such thinking? He should have brought his son and change in the cubicle or go to kids changing area.

If you are a day swimmer you will realise almost all ah-peks change openly. Furthermore they will soap up and walk over to friend cubicle, be it beside or opposing side and start chatting at the doorway (and sometimes still soaping up). Not directly at the doorway but at the panels between 2 cubicles. If you happened to be using the other cubicle, you will also occasionally notice the ah-Pek at the doorway will occasionally take a peek at you between his chats. Probably just to make sure you heard their overly loud conversations. 🤭

 

so I don’t know, maybe the signage meant for them 😏 

 

last time before rejuvenation I noticed every time the shower area get too spicy. The cleaner will start hosing down the area for cleaning 😝 .

When you can live up to the age of those regular ah peks at our pools, you probably don’t care if anyone is looking at you anymore. It’s a big compliment to yourself if anyone is taking a peep at you.

I was at yck pool a couple months back. The uncles are definitely shame free, despite the big bushes and uninspiring dicks size, and the 5month pregnancy. He was not showering in cubicle , but outside. He certainly took notice of every thing that breathed at that moment. 

 

The elaborate soaping ritual, followed scrubbing, washing ears and hair, not to mention special attention to his dick but staring at me while rubbing.

 

Then there is the rinse ritual, cubicle wash following by careful wash of swim trunks...

 

I should learn some moves from uncle next to time.

Agreed to wat u said. Usual day swimmer all shower naked and casually chatting de.. also nothing wrong. It’s a shower room for a reason if really parents are so concerned about us being naked while showering they could actually change the kids then shower at home lol

I think that pool is long forgotten ..

these days students are not like last time. Last time 1 teacher accompanied the whole class, sometime the teacher himself is the swim instructor. Now multiple teachers tag along. And they send one to stand guard inside the shower area when the students are changing inside. Right to the very last tortoise 😜 and they don’t just guard the shower area, they are very attentive even one those few cross over to the urinals. Kudos to their dedication. Probably this had helped, these days all the regulars lurkers / cruisers disappeared. 👏
