@GreenieI live in the East. ActiveSG pools here are heavily utilised on weekdays’ evening. I have given up hope to swim in weekdays evening a long time ago. Too stressful to swim in a crowded pool.

based on your experience, which pool is the best to swim in peace and what time?

In evening which time frame are you guys talking about? Glad I m no longer swimming evening. Used to many many years ago around 6pm - 8pm. Some days are luckier than others. The FINs swimmers, diver practice, aqua aerobics, survival course etc. At one stage I was mostly doing noon and these days with laps area so reasonable swimmable. Stopped for a while and might be pick up again. I noticed after 2pm before 4pm at Safra seems 'safe' timing. Any thoughts?

KBSC has just closed for good not too long ago. East side has lost a public pool.
This afternoon, I went to GESC for swim. I have not been there for a long while.
At the entrance, I saw a notice saying kids pool and teaching pool are closed from 19/9 to 12/11.
Aiyoh, the planning is quite bad wor. Tsk, double tsk.

inaccessibility, lack of patrons, old infrastructures, etc

well actually it does not matter, if they want to close it, they will

now they have this temp closure

Disagree to all the above.
The pool is always packed in the morning and evening.

You are aware why it closes until Nov?

Praying hard the pool is quiet 😜

Working weekday should be ok, right? I would expect it’s not as busy as weekend, unless there is booking from school for CCA

Yes luckily no CCA. Just pool full of us silver gens. Sheltered pool used by aqua games or some sort. Competitive pool was full. By the time I m half done, most of them had left. Lap swimmers were of same stamina, spread out evenly so no crashing. No need struggle over take slow ones who doesn't give way. Or crashing with over zealous fast swimmer that don't see your presence. Overcast so no tan.  Started drizzling only as I stepped away. Been away from this pool for months, seems to have much changes. New lifeguards, even toilet cleaner is new and very on the ball. Kept coming in to touch up here and there. When I arrived showers were packed, all within closed cubicles. Also don't seems to be the same folks I used to see. Overall satisfied swim. So must make mental note Thur swim is gd.

Date: 17 Oct

Arrived at the pool and the weather was cloudy, alright w some dark clouds.
Got changed and walking to enter water. Lifeguard told me. ‘We may be closing the pool. Waiting for confirmation. Better to wait for 5-10min before going in’

Like an obedient school boy, I waited. True enough, the lightning advisory went off barely 1min later.
Oh well, time to get changed and head for lunch. Still got to work after lunch. There goes my Friday swim. 🏊‍♀️

@bluerunner yah that always suck. When all changed and than the advisory and have to leave the pool cos pressing for time. TGIF. 😂 Thou these days rather walk the park than hit the pool on weekends.

Today is the last day to submit our swim laps for Swim4Hope.
Thanks to the sunny weather, I managed to swim and that put an end to my Swim4Hope 2025.
Surpassed my target but my total swim laps ia less than 2024’s. Mainly due to raining swim days or lightning advisory activated during my swim hour.
With or without Swim4Hope, I will continue to swim. In fact, I swim more than I run nowadays.
Hope swimming pools at the east don’t its shutter so frequently. 😅

I prefer the ‘old style’ swimming pool.

Nice weather to be at the pool. Light wind, water isn’t cold and only us few swimmers. Are there moments in the pool when you swim and sense someone watching you. 😛 Thinking too much perhaps but had this feeling  from the swimmer few laps away. Than strange of strange bump outside the shower. And still sense he’s looking my way. Half way thru my shower, lo and behold. Bro, you make my balls shrink sia. 😜 but nice to have seen you 🤤

Saw a young and buff tan guy walk out of the bath cubicle with a bright Turquoise underwear at Besar Swimming Complex while dressing up to leave on Friday evening at 8.45pm.Is the person in this chat. Hope to see him again.

Weekends more for the parks these days as the pool really overcrowded. Lesser of two evils. But bodily aches so may end up going to the pool to join the gangs of 'annoying' folks just lepak one corner 😂 . Need to find 筊杯, poa̍h-poe and see which 😁🤔🤭

Better to Go lepak at teaching pool. Lepak at the end of the big pool will make other users think you are using the lane and deny other from a lane. ✌️

Nope, it's quite safe to go swim at Jalan Besar from Friday to Sunday. I mostly swim in the teaching pool. There was only 3 person swimming in it on one of the Sundays when I was there at 7 plus. The rest of the days I go to Geylang East, crowded most of the time as the teaching pool is under renovation.

wa weird.. everytime when I go Jalan besar.. the teaching pool every lane is full and usually have a big group of training adults with 3-5 swim coaches. Maybe thats on Monday usually.

Then the competition pool always full until maybe 8.40pm then only starts slow down.

nowadays hardly have peace in east side swimming pool at night.

Katong is the more consistent that it is slightly more peaceful than the rest unless got training (which is almost everyday except Sunday and Tuesday).

Best time to swim is actually Sunday night at most pool

Yeah… that’s my experience too. Jalan Besar pool is busy in the evening.

Yes, pls avoid Mondays. It looks like they have a lifeguard course every Mon. Weekend evenings are better.

Very hot day. I’m surprised there are 1 young swimmer, 1 young tanner, 1 young guy sitting around the teaching pool and of course, several older swimmers.

I also saw many younger men at town area. Look like they are not working today but so many?! Either ‘eating snake’ in the pretext of WFH or unemployed. Hmmm.

A quick report. Went to YCK Pool yesterday afternoon. Pool was quiet, sun was blazing, had a lane to myself. There were two uncles cruising in the showers after I swam and went to wash up. They were showering with their doors open and stroking openly. Too bad I wasn't interested. Where are the hotter guys at!
