The crowd capacity not accurate one.

because very likely it only detects/count paying swimmers bah..

The training students and all senior people not counted. Some particular pool have more seniors such as Heartbeat Bedok & Geylang East.

Interestingly Delta pool hardly see seniors in the evening/night time.

Does anyone know of any "ulu places" or "ulu timings" to swim at near NUS? Beginner swimmer here and have some levels of social anxiety but wanna start swimming without needing to face overly crowded areas haha.

Just go to the pool when they open at 7am sure not many people. Srgn weekday 9pm is an option too in those lunar 7th monrh

Not sure about public pools but Safra MF morning swim is packed. Not just with elderly but with many strong swimmers. So really have to clear obstacle course from strong on-coming. Or perhaps it was only on that particular morning I went. Swear not to go in morning again.

Delta pool, most seniors swim in morning time.

Was at Delta...

50% of the big pool occupied by around at least 50 kids (imagine). Adults kena forced to squeeze in the remaining 50%... some crowd at the lap area with some swimmers thinking the other are slow..

Many times I wonder whats the point of the kiddie pool or training pool when most kids/students not even using it.

Exactly. Better build two deep pools.

I had the same experience at Safra MF on 2 occasions (Monday mornings). In the end can't really swim much & went to sit at jet massage area to chill (the area was occupied by at least 4 seniors initially). It seems like most of them will clear the pool after 10.45am

@eminent82 thx for confirming, so really shld rule out morning swim for me. Noon is just as bad as I think nearby office folks also swim during lunch hours. I tried few time after 230pm and get to have relaxing swim or sit at the outdoor jacuzzi without crowd or anyone. Unlike Safra Yishun, outdoor jacuzzi usually have crowd no matter what time.

@Greenie was it weekend and early morning (9-1130am) and/or late afternoon (3-5pm)? I think the kids training session on at those hours. Try around mid noon, usually good timing for laps, if you are not afraid of being roasted under the sun. I also notice they now have early morning aquatic games or aerobic under the shelter at Delta on some days beside the school training kids. So really have to see your luck. I had stopped going for a while now, so need to relearn their schedules to avoid the crowds.

From my observations at the pools located on the east, from opening hour until 10:30am, there are more senior citizen.
They will be back at the pool from 3-5pm.

Noon hour or lunch time ia mostly for working adults.

Afterwork from 6pm onwards, mixed bag of swimmers/pool users. This is also popular time for lovers/couples to hog the side or the end of the pool.

Sidetrack:

Last evening at Katong, there was an uncle swimming in thongs. Anyone saw him?

Think just your luck whether you get away or not with your thongs. Personally too had seen before. I doubt it's double standard. Just some guards are more lenient than others and also if you get spotted by some jealous 😜 folks who go report you. Than the guards really have to step in and take actions. Had also seen guys who purposely just tucked the back part of their speedo trunks just to make it look like thongs, perhaps to tan their fair butt and also got away. 😜 Not suggesting or giving ideas. You decide the actions, you accept the embarrassment of being warned.

You have nicely summarised everything I wanted to say. Thank you.

One moment it’s freaking hot and the next, heavy downpour. Glad I already finished the lap.
p/s: Delta locker services really need to pull up their socks. Pay so much now for locker and the bloody kiosk system doesn’t work so often 😤 .

Please bring back the old locker system using keys.

Yes. The digital locker is not good. Never like it right from the start.  I also agree that they bring back coin lockers.

Yes totally not reliable. When system down the whole chain gang is faulty and cannot be used at all. Worst case scenario both kiosks not working. Whereas the old system, when one's down just find another one. Bad that we are relying so fully on tech these days. No contingency plan.

Was fully changed to trunks /swimming suit with others all trying to use the lockers once, only to be told by the staff, all not working that day. No sign to prewarn us. And the staff just say have to leave on the bench. The other lady went berserk as she had a laptop.

I went to Safra Tampines to collect my Swim4Hope swim entitlement.
The pool had no crowd at all. Only 2 swimmers there. I was so tempted to swim there but I decided against it as I had just finished my lunch 1hr ago. Still feeling a little full.
So I checked on the pool crowd at Jalan Besar (I have not been there on weekend for a long while) and the app showed 3%. Not bad. Let’s go.
Took bus 23, passed by HomeTeam. I said to myself again, “Should I alight here?”. No again.
Reached Jalan Besar pool. Apps showed crowd level 4%. Still good. But when I entered the pool, I saw so many kids with their overzealous parents at one corner - Kids SwimSafe Water safety test! Bummer.
Nevertheless, found a lane and jumped in. After 350m, lifeguard came over and told me that the lane was booked. I have to vacate. Left side 2 lanes for SwimSafe, right side, another 2 lanes for kids swim lessons. Public had only the middle 4 lanes. About 8 swimmers there. I managed to swim to reach my target for Swim4Hope and left the pool, feeling a bit annoyed/frustrated to be honest.
What 4% pool occupancy?! 1 child count as half ah?! Tsk tsk.

I wonder what is the math.

Maybe their calculation is 4 people out of 100 people in all pools = 4% which seems absurd but sometimes very possible if only 4 people paying for the swimming entrance lol and the rest are trainees/seniors.

Jalan Besar competitor pool lap pool is quite stressful at night because always got this group of people together (5-7) that always do strong freestyle non stop together. The smaller pool TOTALLY is for training now base on my experience, and they never state that outside. At least Katong got mention their training schedules.

Swimming in the east at night used to be chill.. but now the trainings really annoys me, wish more people complain about it. Katong pool many days the entire big pool at night reserved for training for like 10 KIDS.
