Was at Chatuchak weekend market the other day and saw a tall wooden lamp which I quite fancy and would definitely look good in my living room. Cost about 1350bhts but it's beautiful. Very tempted to buy but wonder how to bring this oddly shaped and long wooden lamp (I dont think its foldable) back. Anybody know?

If its not too heavy and you're travelling on a non-budget airline, why not tell them to pack it nicely and bring it back with you on the flight as checked luggage?? Most airlines like TG or SQ will close an eye if you do not grossly exceed your 20kg.

I once checked in this Buddha statute (32.6kg!!) about 2m tall x 1 m wide with TG and they didn't even blink! But that time I was travelling business class...

I am unsure whether Thailand's gay website would reveal the address of Ferros 2.

But i believe one can easily get the informations at Ferros 1. Another relatively new sauna, Mania, is worth to visit as well. It opens overnight on every sat.

I was there on few occasions, quite a crowd with many lean toned and muscular guys, mainly locals and oversea asian. Not many white guys. So if you are into asian, try it.

Here are my afterthoughts from my second trip in more than a decade over last weekend.

Money is so good to spend over there. Things are relatively cheap. Taxis are cheap. Massage is cheap. Good food is cheap. I can understand why Singaporeans like to go there now. :clap:

Shopping experience is much better compared to boring Singapore. Went to Siam Paragon and Siam Discovery Centre. Interior decor of shops and buildings in general is more interesting. Same can be said of Babylon.

Although there are many angmohs, because of the CNY holidays, last weekend was like a gathering of the Chinese-speaking communities of Taiwan, HK, China, Sg, etc. And there were Japanese. So many cute G-men, stockies, chubbies, and familiar faces from Fridae, Yamweb profiles.

The nicely decorated restaurant in Babylon serves decent, affordable food and provides a space for socialising and man-watching. Best part is do not have to pay through nose while having candlelight dinner and entertained by live jazz peformance. :thumb:

Went to Tawan, the go-go bar for muscle queens. The irony is that the customers become more of an eye candy instead of the performers. And instead of picking up the go-go performers, the customers end up cruising each other. The G-men from Taiwan and HK sure made an impact there over last weekend.

The thing is that Babylon becomes quiet approaching 11pm and there are few places or pubs for PLUs to hang out after that except for the go-go bars. So inevitably, most will end up at DJ Station. Even though the massive crowds and disco may not be your thing, it is a converging point for you to see and be seen. After the lip-synching, "lady men" cabaret show, I had the fortune of encountering 2 stranger HK cubbies. The threesome body-hugging and risque-dancing (a first for me) with them really made my night. :oops:

I stayed in Asia Hotel during my trip last week and the more I stay there, the more I like it. Location of course is still the prime selling point there but they always give me a spacious double room for a single person. The room is really big and wide and clean- no bed bugs or stain or unwelcome presence, etc. The corridor is brightly lit and the security guard is always nearby. The gym is in a rather poor state but if you are there to tone up your body, the equipment is more than sufficient and moslty there were only two or three of us working out there. Overall, a value for money hotel stay and I will be staying there again next month.

Try to avoid the Thai restaurant within walking distance from Asia Hotel. The food was really poor- the Tomyum soup I had was clear and diluted and my favourite rice in basil leaves and fried pork was really tasteless. BUT the street side stall in front of 7-11 selling beefball mee soup was really tasty. For only 30bhts per bowl. Delicious. I had it for supper almost every night before I retired to my hotel.

My last week's trip I stayed at Ambassador Hotel, but never visited the massage parlour within the hotel and instead went twice to massage parlour called 'Banana Fitness Club' which within walking distance from the hotel.

I walked past Ambassador Hotel on my way to Allbury. It looks like a grand hotel from the outside. Can I ask how much you paid for your room? Since you stayed so near Albury did you go there?

Was there last Sunday during opening time about 3pm. Not many hunky masseurs there. Maybe too early. But as I had to leave airport later, I nevertheless book a rather muscular guy. Turned out to be a good choice- he can really fxxk with his big tool. How is Banana Fitness Club? Never been there.

Well, I paid about Baht 1,735 for twin and for standard room in main wing. I went with my friend so we share the cost, as for single room the rate about Baht 1,475. We booked thru internet called 'DirectRooms' and this include breakfast.

how to move around in bkk, taxi, train or mrt?

The best way to move around Bangkok is by skytrain. Most of the popular tourist places (except places like Chinatown where you have to take their mrt) can be easily reached via this way. Try to avoid taxi- the traffic is almost nightmarish except after 9pm or early morning. Plan your route well. Know what's the nearest skytrain station to your destination and if it's a bit out of the way, you still can take the skytrain then continue to your journey by tutu or motorbike ride.

Agreed with ED, the public transport like BTS and MRT are fast and cheap. The best to buy the daily multiple journey is much cheaper and no need to look for and count the coins to buy the ticket.

During the week, BTS and MRT should be your best bet. However during the weekend, taxis can be ok because not much traffic in the city (touristy) areas.

If you're really in a hurry during the week, consider the motorbike taxis. They are a bit dangerous and the helmuts really messes/stinks up your hair but they will get you there quickly. Be prepared to negotiate. They should NOT charge more than a taxi. And see if you can pick a sexy bike rider so you can keep rubbing against his back when he brakes!

I had a couple of incidents on my recent trip with the taxi driver who acted blur blur and refused to turn on the meter. One asked 'how much you want to pay me?'. One pressed something on his dashboard and I thought it's the meter but halfway thru the journey realised that the meter not on. To prevent argument esp as I was in his cab in the middle of the night and in the middle of nowhere, I just kept quiet and paid him the extra on arrival.

I experienced my last year's Bkk trip, after I finished the massage, I asked the masseur to hail a motorbike taxi for me to travel from the massage salon to main road so that I could climb up to BTS station. He told when you reach the main road, just gave him Bht 10 and don't talk during the trip, if not it would another Bht 5-10 extra

Agreed with OB, actually the location (first) and then the hotel rating. Like Hotel Asia Bangkok, although the location just opposite BTS Station Ratchadevi but it's rating only 3-star, so the hotel rate is not really expensive.

I'll be staying in Anorma Hotel when I visit BK late this month. I've stayed there before a couple of times and find the service generally satisfactory. The room is a little small for my liking but few hotels there can beat its central location. The breadfast spread is really good. I never use their gym before and I dont remember why. Will do so this time around. Been to Central World last month which is right opposite but was surprised to find few people mingling around the many shops. Central World is just not as popular as, say, Siam Paragon which is within walking distance. Is this the case of too many similiar shopping complexes there vying for the same customer?

I have never visited any dentist in Bangkok. Anyway, basing on the professional fees listed looks reasonable however some treatments required the patient to stay a few days, so adding the hotel charges plus air ticket maybe it becomes equal than the dentist fees here, unless you are holiday and same time take the opportunity to do it.

Central World is just too big and spread out. Find it a bit tiring to walk around. And I like to go inside a shop where it does not look too high class from the outside. I think there are too many shops in BK lah.

Best to look at the equipment and facilities before you go. Some of these dental places are quite dubious whereas there are some world class places around. If it looks cheap, then expect cheap service.

Hope you are not suai bien or casual to open your mouth for just anyone in BKK..

Banana's masseurs are mostly 'twinks' and on peak hours are btwn 20-25masseurs.
